McAteer Nominated For Goal of the Month
Friday, 8th May 2026 10:49

Blues forward Kasey McAteer has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for April.

McAteer’s strike against Middlesbrough following a well-worked move is shortlisted alongside goals scored by Frank Onyeka of Coventry City, Charlton’s Charlie Kelman and Will Lankshear, Oxford United.

The Irish international, signed from Leicester last summer, ended the season in a rich vein of form, scoring in each of the last three home matches.

Votes can be cast here before 5pm on Monday 11th May. Fans' votes will be combined with those of a panel to determine the winner.

A very good goal but sums up the frustration many of us have felt too often this season in that where have the patterns of play been ? Jack & JP produced some great individual skills but the slick team passing was too often missing. At first we were waiting for pkayets to bond into the team but Pompey away showed that the issues were deeper than just players needing to integrate

I hope Town go after Will Lankshear - reckon he'd have a similar impact to that of Delap. A big, bullying striker, has had a great season in a struggling Oxford team.

Kelman did the most work to score his. All excellent.

Charlie Kelman the best IMO but of course I shall still vote for Kasey.

I honestly expected to see McAteer's other goal from April. I thought that was a better goal to be honest.

As for this vote, it's certainly won by the Charlton lad. Cracking goal that!

Ironically, I think if more than a few had there way, Kasey wouldn't have even be here to have scored it! A triumph of patience over instant expectations.
