That doesn't answer his question to be fair.

It's also a load of nonsense to suggest that everyday Americans support the IRA if that is what he was getting at. There was obviously first generation American Irish over here that had strong political believes probably based on why they lived in the US in the first place but it was a minority of underground gangsters funding it, not the people or the government.

Anybody who engages with those in conflict with a view to improving things is a sensible person. Or do you think Mr Corbyn was actually making bombs for them?

I'm not suggesting most Americans did, but NORAID and similar organisations in the 70s were more than just 'a minority of underground gangsters'.

He was political activist for them, nicked at a demonstration in the 1980s. Still can't bring himself to condemn them. Shame on those that vote for him.

Notably though, Trump presumably would not have agreed with interning the Irish, banning them from entering the country, or taking severe steps against the USA for being a funder of terrorism ...

I wasn't commenting on that, I was commenting on the fact you hadn't answered his question. But personally I'm uneasy with a chap that regarded Hamas and Hazbollah as 'friends'. Questionable judge of character. Each to their own.

Given our appalling treatment of the Irish for centuries, I think anybody who tries to build bridges with them is worthy of our support.

I genuinely can't find a single reason to vote Conservative, and they certainly haven't provided one in their campaign or manifesto.

The same is true of all corners of the Middle East: in their different ways and at different times, our allies Saudi Arabia and Israel have supported or indulged in terrorism to further their ends.

Only if it's the one thing the mail and express can find to throw at Mr Corbyn. It really is pathetic.

You're talking about on a macro political scale. International relations really, this is an IRA sympathizer poetically getting the keys to number 10. Also listen to his "Good fighters and bad fighters" speech about ISIS in the commons in 2014 if you want something a little more up to date, rather topical today eh. [Post edited 7 Jun 2017 20:19]

You can engage with a conflict to seek peace, without appearing to be highly partisan to one side, and praising and condoning that side.
