Indeed, thought he'd at least be offered a 1 year deal. As per the story, Mick is obviously happy enough that Spence/Iorfa can fill in at centre back, as can Knudsen (in a 3 mainly). |
A deal would only have made sense on a 'pay as you play basis' with his injury record.

Might indicate we're definitely definitely not playing three at the back anytime soon (and it'll be Smith who's sitting out) so we have cover. If we were looking more at three/five at the back, I'd want another "proper" centre half rather than someone who could possibly do a job. |
If Smith does indeed "sit out" that currently would mean two right-sided CBs which doesn't often work out long term. Jonas is no Berra. I hope this means an additional left-sider is coming in. |  |
