Favourite breed of dog?? on 23:18 - Oct 28 by RoyKeanesDog | Because owners wouldn't let a dangerous dog run around off lead? For an intelligent man you don't half come out with some ignorant dross at times. |
I assume you aren't a parent.

Favourite breed of dog?? on 23:15 - Oct 28 by sparks | Furry c***s. Dumping on my football pitch. Barking in the night. Protecting their owners: "what's the problem. He won't bite."..." How am I supposed to know that when your bull terrier is running towards my kids at a playground without a lead". |
What you mean is that you have a problem with the *owners*, and I'd understand your feelings there. It's not the dogs' fault.

At least you've taken the trouble to understand yourself & know it. Nothing worse than people who don't care enough to understand themselves or their lifestyles, get a pet, & then neglect or abuse it.

No, but there are plenty of parents who like dogs. Including mine, that happen to have English Bull Terriers.

Agree. So many on here clearly love their dogs and treat them very well. That's how it should be. Obviously that goes for all pets but TWTD as a whole seems to have a special place for dogs.

Yes he has those too but the daughter wasn't familiar with the terminology so it wasn't considered as a name ! He does however chase pretty much anything that moves including helicopters !

We used to get RAF Tornados doing training runs down the line of previous house & garden, old dog would chase those whilst giving his max warning bark!

Ah man, you've got this one all wrong. Most dogs are adorable. I'm the first to complain that some people get the wrong dog for them and sometimes for all the wrong reasons too, but that's people for you, not dogs. Get the right dog and you and your family will have a new, loyal, loving, fun providing pal, who would die for you in an instant, and, (for you, as a parent), especially for your children if he/she had to. Without thought. Without question. They do poo. I'll give you that. You don't want a cat. They're horrible things.

I like dogs more than most humans - They are not malicious or hateful while humans can be utter tw@ts. This will sound soppy but the relationship you build with a dog is just as loyal and caring as you do with friends and family. They are family. Family that like to sh*t where they shouldn't, although my Nan does that too.

Favourite breed of dog?? on 08:56 - Oct 29 with 4271 views | solemio | Black Labrador retriever. Don't like small dogs generally. although we had a miniature Manchester Terrier when I was a kid, and I loved that. A number of adults in our town have been attacked by dogs not on leads with their owners a distance behind. It's not just owners of well-behaved dogs who let them off the lead. Children and dogs: it's the adults to blame.

Favourite breed of dog?? on 20:53 - Oct 28 by Ryorry | How ridiculously dog-ist. Judge by the individual, not the entire species (or their owners). My dog's perfectly quiet, unless strangers come to the house, then he always gives me a useful warning (particularly useful for delivery drivers who can't be a'd to knock or ring the bell). He's never threatened anyone in his life. He doesn't crap "everywhere", & if he does whilst we're out, I *always* scoop it & get rid in appropriate place. He's an Italian Spinone*, best breed in the world - great family dogs, kind temperament (I know of none that have ever bitten a human in the UK), loving, loyal. Require decent amount of exercise and grooming. http://www.italianspinone.co.uk/index.php *Same was true of his predecessor, R.I.P. - same breed. [Post edited 29 Oct 2017 1:18]

Everyone thinks this about their own dog, I have some sympathy with Sparks as I’m sick of owners letting their dogs cr@p and not scoop and then letting their dogs run up to my toddler barking without any control. I don’t want a dog I don’t know jumping up at me with muddy paws thanks.

As I said, all of those are problems with the *owners*, it's not the dogs' fault. No dog of mine would ever do any of those things. Education, education, education of the owners & training, training, training and control of your dog/s.

My mum's latest mini dachshund is called Minnie. :) The first few she had were right terrors as she hadn't socialised them properly. Still, Minnie will have a good go at the odd German Shephard! Greyhounds for me. First ever dog, Benson, was an ex-racer. Loved him to bits. Lazy as feck but after a life like that who could blame him. Can't have one myself as I live in a block of flats and just don't have the time to look after myself let alone a dog.

Favourite breed of dog?? on 09:42 - Oct 29 with 4224 views | WeWereZombies | African Wild Dogs - I have seen a film of a pack of them taking down a lioness, no one owns them, true 'Call of the Wild' breed. I disagree with posters who judge character by whether a dog responds well to a person, I think a dog can just sense nervousness and responds to that. Some dogs seem to take an instant dislike to me and it takes months to win them round whilst others latch onto me straight away as if we have known each other all our lives. I got off a ferry in Palermo in the early hours a few years back and before I knew it some beast that looked like a St. Bernard was following me everywhere as I stalked the streets looking for somewhere to get breakfast. I went into churches and poked around looking at all the allegories and religious symbolism for half an hour, came out and there was Bernie waiting patiently for me. Eventually managed to evade him (her?) and watched from a shop doorway as some poor couple walked down the street trying to shoo their new found friend away.
