Overrated meals on 15:15 - Nov 21 by footers | Not a meal but Nando's. Why go out and pay for chicken? At least get a rotisserie one and eat it in your pants by hand. And their peri-peri nonsense too- never got it. |
Let's face it only footballers and simpletons go to Nandos.

I hate to say you're wrong, but you're wrong. Delia must've copied the recipe from somewhere, but mum didn't get the recipe from her. So, let's not dig any further. Let's not discuss that maybe a friend may have given her the recipe from one of the old soak's books. But it has always been known as "national trust pie. Interesting that if you google National Trust Pie, this page now comes up as a result.

Cheesecake? A homemade, crunchy, biscuit-base cheesecake is perhaps Britain's best contribution to the greatest desserts of the world table.

I've never liked the stuff. It's not real cheese, and the base isn't even made by the so called creater. It's made by McVities. (Other digestives are available).

Why would you make it with commercial biscuits?

I wouldn't. But I've not seen anyone make it any other way. And you're right. I think that's my biggest issue with it. The cheat factor.

The biggest issue is having some disgusting sweet yet tangy cheese cream on top of the biscuits. An affront to both cheese and cake.

I don't get the Nando's experience. I have to go in and find a table and then when I want to order, I have to go to a counter rather than someone come over to said table. I then, mid meal, want another drink which involves another trip to the counter. MADNESS.

I love potatoes. If I could only eat 10 foods for the rest of my life potatoes would be pick #1.

Well yes, that too, clearly. It's just not very nice all round is it? I'd rather have a biscuit with actual cheese lumped on top.

Especially not when there's some vague lemon or other fruit flavour in there too. It's just a mess. I'm not too keen on British desserts but of them all I'd say an apple crumble with evaporated milk is my favourite. Followed by cheese and biscuits of course.

Have you read I, Partridge? There's a bit in there where he lets you in on his secret 'NES' (Nando's Efficiency System), which solves this dilemma once and for all.

We're hijacking the thread here I feel, but, my favourite desserts are simple things like poached pears or baked whole apples. Last month when there were free apples galore I was baking them, cored and stuffed with orange soaked sultanas etc. Simple syrup and cream. Great. The rest I stewed for the freezer, and made apple sauce for my PORK CHOPS which were great.
