Ignoring the fact it won’t happen, what would happen to Town if Ipswich did achieve city status - would we be renamed Ipswich City?

It must be about a decade since this last came up, will no doubt be about as successful as the last several times. As ever a rather superficial idea with few real benefits except for filling some pages of the Star.

Some wag on FB has already pointed out that it would be a bit of a tongue twister, and could easily come across as ‘Ipswich Sh*tty’...

Tbf - if it did ever happen and we were renamed, I think I’d still think of and refer to us as Town - in much the same way I’m still convinced our stands consist of the Cobbold, Pioneer, Churchmans and North Stand

St. Davids is nice, and if you don't like it it doesn't matter, it's a twenty minute walk to take in the entire city, and you can leave.

Theoretically, Bury St Edmunds ought to be, as the location of the seat of a bishop (technically the Abbey has been a cathedral since 1914).

Not now they're sticking a road through the middle of it. Will have to buy Mildenhall when the USAF leaves instead (it's as close as those for many holiday destinations).

Given that property prices in London's "Villages" seem to appreciate surely Village status would be better... eg Dulwich Village

Do you live in a London 'Village'? Does that make you one of the Village People?

Negative, I live in a 'hood.

Though as I was an Adam & the Ants fan I think if I were one of the Village People I'd want to be the Indian. Though I think I'd more likely be the Village Idiot.
