What was the first Town game you saw live? 11:48 - Apr 15 with 26521 viewsKeno

I'm feeling a little melancholy so lets all take a trip down memory lane

Me

August 1974 Ipswich 2 Burnley 0

Walking into the North Stand it was the amazing place I'd ever been to, the most amazing feeling of belonging to something that was vey special

I may have been spoilt by watching that team and that era

August 30th, 1958. Lost 2-0 at home to Sheff Wed.

Looks like you're the winner with the earliest game memory.

Newcastle at home in 1985, Peter Beardsley scored a cracking free kick for them, Eric Gates equalised with a cheeky lob over the keeper that I've tried to emulate ever since when in a 1v1 situation with a keeper. Eric was/is better at it.

Oct 1st 1955, 3rd Division South, Ipswich Town 3 v Crystal Palace 3.
Very young kid at the time, standing on a stool in The North Stand. (sometimes they would let us sit on the grass behind the goal), health and safety wasn't around in those days.
Roy Bailey was in goal for Crystal Palace, soon to be a stalwart for Ipswich in the Ramsey era.
It's funny but you always remember your first game.

Ipswich 2 Rotherham 1 2003 at the start of that great run we had, Pablo Couñago if only we could have a player like him again. Cant remember who scored for them, then again I couldn't tell you who scored against us in the Milwall game a few weeks ago!

We lost 0-2 though. I'd forgotten about that Forrest cock up to let Dowie score. I was right behind it too.

Just reminded me of what a fantastic left foot Neil Thompson had.

Edit. We did beat Palace 1-0 at the start of the 95-96 season, Mathie scoring.
