‘His attitude to the fans was pathetic’ ‘plays his favourites’ on 12:01 - May 29 by PhilTWTD | MM felt he was the best he had to do the job he wanted him to do. Had Hyam been fit I'm sure he would have started ahead of him for most of that season. |
First sentence was the problem. Douglas was his man, he brought him into the club.

Good signing at the time. Captain of Brentford who made the play offs 14/15 on a free transfer.

Let's see who turns up and how he approaches the different circumstances he'll have at Town. It's a new start for all of us.

The longer article posted yesterday has fans saying that he changed his formation if necessary; liked to sweep forward from the middle playing ball to feet and that he took the clubs he's managed forward on a project. None of that could be latterly claimed except by Mick's most determined admirer. His rise through management, with corresponding success, was not part of Mick's early back-story, nor his high-level UEFA coaching qualification, nor media degree. None of this guarantees that he might not sometime snarl at Phil or Stuart , nor challenge the fans on his determination to pick whomsoever, regardless. But get yourself onto a positive front foot and live a little in advance of it going pearshaped!

Ah, but that longer article was too long for many on here to get beyond the first couple of hundred words... to the positive stuff. It seems clear that Hurst knows how to win games, plays passing football, fast to feet, and has creative ideas in the final third and from set pieces, but builds teams to be solid at the back too. He also values relationships with the fans and with media, he's articulate, a good man manager - and he's both young (44) and experienced (500 games) too. Lovely stuff. Looking forward to seeing him at the club.

‘His attitude to the fans was pathetic’ ‘plays his favourites’ on 12:21 - May 29 with 1283 views | TheTrueBlue1878 | Was at the game Sunday, even though he probably knew he was going. No signs of discontent towards the fans, in fact appreciated the tremendous support STFC fans gave the players from start to finish. Hurst completed a solo half a pitch lap of appreciation to say thank you. Was received well by fans.

Really interesting, thanks for the resume. All suggests to me he's a thinker. Would be well happy with that, I think he could take us a long way! Hope he's offered & takes the job.

Whether that's the case or otherwise it doesn't change the fact that the manager is going to pick the players he thinks best suit the team rather than having 'favourites' for any other reason.
