Pickford I reckon.

Well exactly, that's why dropping the keeper is such a big call. I think you have to back your number 1 in August, especially one with his credentials. Bad start to the season or not dropping a striker is a kick up the backside.

Dropping a keeper is an entire different ballgame.

Has to be Bart, he has been sensational for 3 years at ITFC, cements his long term future to the club and deserves for some gratitude and trust through a hard time. Would imagine he is less than impressed right now.

Poll: Would you be happy with Paul Lambert?

He's got to stick with DG now, seeing as he made that call today. DG has done nothing today to warrant being dropped.

That doesn't mean that Hurst shouldn't have stuck with Bart though. I wish he had.

Think he's painted himself into a corner with this one.

But it doesn't does it. He's made a big statement by doing that Hurst. I don't rate DG but you can't say he done much wrong, had little to do, like his opposite number. It's going to be unsettling whatever happens now.

Gerken didn’t do anything wrong today, it’s got to be him. He’d be bitterly disappointed if he wasn’t starting against Hull City. Thought Bart would get today’s game to prove himself.

Would something like a new 3 year contact on around 20k a week be about right?

Well Behind Hurst on this one. No one guaranteed their place, and Bart has been shaky all season so far.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear Bart had a slight knock in training (though Hurst May have been on the radio by now saying otherwise) hence he wasn’t risked. But he has been very poor this season and it’s nice, in a way, to have a manger who’s willing to give a player a kick up the backside by dropping them, rather than doing nothing or badmouthing them in the press.

Hes on 12k a week, 20k is an overstatement.

He's certainly made a few errors, but he deserves some trust to be placed in him for all the good work he has done for over 3 years at the club.

Wrong, Hurst confirmed he was dropped.

A thread that's supposed to be about the goal keeper position but a random dig at Jonas thrown in.. jesus christ get a grip.

On topic, DG. He's made his choice now after Bart has been pretty bad in the first 5 games. Let's see how this pans out.

Hence I said Hurst may have been on the radio by now saying otherwise - I couldn’t be sure.

Big call though.

He wasn't.

The problem is certain posters dislike certain players, and will at best always undertake staggering feats of mental gymnastics, and at worst just make stuff up, in order to find reasons to slate their chosen player.

If you can provide one concrete example of Knudsen being poor today I'll eat J2s eggs.

20k was reported at the time. Just seen Phil disputed that. The money is irrelevant anyway.

There's arguments for both, but if a player isn't performing and the understudy is doing everything asked of him (he didnt do anything wrong today) then why not? Manager is best placed to make that decision.

Agree totally, Bart will be back no doubt, but he's made a few errors of late...it happens to the best, DG won't be seen by Hurst to be a reserve keeper purely if Bart gets injured, he's there to compete with Bart and right now he's got the call and rightly so..
