That's a lot of money for a player who can't nail down a starting role in the Championship's worst team.

If he's sold it's a gamble either way - he could star here, he may be a crock. We just don't know so £5mil is probably fair.

It's time to make the best of it.

Do you really believe what Lambert said? Sounds like he's just talking him up in case a bid does come in and he gets to reinvest the proceeds.

A punt for a Prem Club would be around Lambert's figure....

He's also just coming back from an injury which has time and again rendered players a shadow of their former self.

I like him, I think he's a great prospect, but I fear his abilities have been rather inflated in the minds of some supporters.

Hurst was right, he's not even ready for the Championship and he's not 16 so should be a lot closer to being ready even with the injury.

Doing it for the teeny boppers is all well and good but doing it in real life is a different prospect, which he's not yet done.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Yet he can't get into a pretty rubbish Championship midfield.

I want him to be amazing but there really needs to be a huge dose of realism with some of our fans.

It really doesn't matter, and yes that sounds daft, but the reality is for a lad with so much ability and potential to get better he should/could be playing at a higher level..

Homegrown Player Rule..

"The Homegrown Player Rule is an initiative of the English Premier League to allow for more domestic players to be a developed from an earlier age in the hope of nurturing more homegrown talent. It forms part of the League's Elite Player Performance Plan. Currently the Premier League allows a maximum of 17 non-"homegrown" players in each club squad, and the squad size is a maximum of 25. This means that in a full squad of 25 players, there must be at least eight homegrown players.[1][2] Greg Dyke, the chairman of the Football Association (FA), wants to implement much stronger regulation of foreign players. His intention is to help England to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as he stated in an op-ed piece.[3] Some of Dyke’s proposals include: homegrown players in a top-flight 25-man squad be increased from eight to 12 [1] two of whom must be brought up in the team's youth system, and also changing the definition of what it is to be a homegrown player. Currently, to be classified as homegrown one must be on an English team for at least three years before the age of twenty-one."

You're absolutely right.

It sounds daft.

Thus far Lankester has demonstrated more ability on a Championship pitch. Dozzell needs to find a way to influence games, they are passing him by at the moment.
