Independent Group 15:26 - Feb 18 with 40434 views | ZedRodgers | What do we know so far? 1. They won't stand a by-election and will abandon their constituencies for more 'winable' seats at the next election. 2. They won't reveal anything about their funding and have set themselves up as a private company to avoid publicly declaring anything. 3. Their website is sh1te. 4. They've said what they're against but nobody can name a single policy they are for. 5. They've been endorsed by Katie Hopkins and Pickles. 6. Angela Smith was only 5 mins into BBC Politics appearance today talking about leaving due to racism before she described non-white people as having a funny tinge. Integrity indeed. I'm delighted that the politically homeless are now able to come in from the cold.

Thought I'd kept that incident in Cambodia quiet... all that glitters is not gold, my friends! And you can choose anything you like- may I recommend the house red? It's so cheap that it's fizzy but if you can keep it down it will send you sideways!

I make the French right. Half a pack of Gaulloises, some strong coffee and a bottle of red is the perfect way to start the day :) Especially if you're on strike... again. Allez!

Seriously zed you are like a call centre operator who has a set script and a sheet of objection handling but really struggle when somebody throws you off track. I'll leave you to it dear boy. Did you try a bar called Picasso just off pub street in Siem Reap? 2 cocktails for 1 USD isn't going to end well. Great little place though. It's early so just a pisco sour for me. It's got egg in it so it's like a brunch. SB

Quite possibly. There wasn't a bar in that area I didn't drink in. Most days we found too hot to go outside properly so just sat and drank. When it was finally cool enough to step outside it was too late to do any tourist stuff, so we just went to another pub instead :) Shameful really. I know you spoke very highly of Angkor Wat but by that time in the trip we'd just had enough of trekking about. I particularly liked how insistent one US Army veteran living over there was about the girls in the area and how he would never sleep with someone that age. If you honestly believed that, there probably isn't any need to say it more than once!

KL isn't all that great tbh- much of it's like a big expensive shopping mall. Though the street food is fecking fabulous- Malaysian is probably my favourite cuisine in the world. The chicken chop is brilliant - a deep-fried spatchcock chicken smothered in proper, spicy satay sauce- yum!

You didn't go to Angkor? That's a real shame, for me it's better than Machu Picchu or Tikal (I have a thing for ancient history). It does get hot but you just have to power through, can drink plenty to cool down in the afternoon once you've used up the morning. Can certainly understand the heat can be oppressive though. I can just see you now, sitting on the balcony at the FCC sipping a glass of Sancerre and discussing the latest socialist policies of the region :D. SB

Not in Malaysia I'm afraid, mate. Was staying with a friend who lives in KL so didn't really venture out of there. I'll bet the jungle treks would be a great laugh tho- just hold onto your stuff before the monkeys nick it!

I agree KL isn't great, in fact most cities I've been to in Malaysia aren't great (give Putrajaya a swerve, it's empty). I did enjoy Borneo but once again Kota Kinabalu wasn't great. The food is very nice as you say, can't beat a Laksa or my absolute favourite - char kway teow. Bankster - if they are going to Borneo I might be able to help a bit with suggestions. SB

Sancerre is actually one of my favourite wines, love it bone dry. So not so much a champagne socialist, more a Loire valley one :)

I went to Penang and wasn't keen on the place. I was there for two weeks and after I saw the cost of a pint the first thing I did was find out how much it would cost me to get a bus to Thailand.

The thing about this split is that when eventually there are by elections it will split the Labour vote in half and the Tories will walk in unopposed

No because they'll all be replaced by Momentum pushed candidates so the Supreme Leader will be able to rise to power with a massive majority. Back in the realms of reality, you are of course right. The Tories will walk the next election.

ThTs why they won’t stand in a by election. They have three years for a “new” party to get decent financial backing to hVe a decent chance of getting elected. Alternatively the prospect of Corbyn being PM terrifies them and they are doing this to ensure he never gets elected. It may ultimately cost them their careers as politicians but they are acting in what the6 see as the ciuntry’s Best interests.

I am surprised there hasn't been a full on mutiny already. Look at the situation, the country is being ripped apart, it is in turmoil. The Conservatives are fighting each other and doing a pretty terrible job of everything. The man on the street is feeling the pinch and businesses are failing all over the show. Where are Labour and the Lib Dems? The fact that even with all the above they would almost definitely lose a snap election shows what a complete shower of sh1te they are. I am definitely not a Tony Blair supporter, I can't stand the bloke but I would have him back right now in a heartbeat.

This is the start of the mutiny though. The Labour guys that have left are so frustrated with party tearing itself apart as an ideological battle goes on, the Tories can't stand by whilst May appeases the ERG and drives us to a No Deal Brexit. Lib Dems are sadly a busted flush - they will look to align with the Independent Group in all reality. I do think this move could bring on the end of the current 2 party politics, and if Brexit is the sh*tshow that it looks likely to be then by the next GE the Tories and Labour will almost be unelectable
