One year without alcohol today

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Still not sure. Gonna have a drink in Scotland as discussed on here previously (most remote pub on UK mainland) but then I don't know after that. It's been great. My life has improved dramatically, so not sure why I'd go back to it.

You are right to wonder whether you should go back to it.

I stopped for three years and was never fitter or healthier. Then I went back to it Christmas 2017 and since then I'm back in the habit and keep picking up stupid injuries when running that I wasn't before. This has lead to me being unable to train for another two months and I've eaten and drunk like a pig and put on two stone in the last couple of months.

Coke Zero.

Still junk mind

Otherwise, yep agree with where you're coming from on this (although I'm very much not practicing abstinence )

edit - it was a ripped calf that did it for me - stopped training after work and substituted for a pint or two. And it seems to have stuck.

Since August I've slipped in the shower, pulled my hamstring (twice) and now have a hernia.

I was doing twenty miles a week and now I do nothing. You can see why footballers get fat as soon as they stop playing as they will consume the same calories but don't bother to work it off.

Once I have the hernia op it's a minimum two months no workouts.

What were you doing in the shower?

it's like climbing everest - I have no idea why someone would want to do it, but many congratulations on the achievement.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Getting out. My Mrs had taken the sealer strip off the bottom to clean and forgot to tell me.

The water went under my shower mat. One foot went up in the air frontways the other foot went up in the air behind me when hit the door on the way out.

I'm not giving beer and red wine up for anything.

Or whiskey.

Congratulations, that's great. Have you lost weight, do you think?

I've cut down dramatically too over the past 3/4 months (no mean feat given its been Christmas, and my birthday) and feel similarly good. A bit of intake management and a bit of exercise and I've lost more than 10 kgs in about two months.

Good for you.

I've not had a drink of any sort for 5 months now so have an idea of how you feel.

I wanted to break the habit I'd got into and, although I sometimes fancy a beer, I'm not sure if I really want one or not any more.

I found the first three weeks the hardest. But I think I have an addictive personality as I can't just have a bottle of beer or a glass of wine. Just as well I never tried drugs.
