People flaunting the rules, knowing fine well they are doing but not caring. 15:21 - Apr 12 with 6766 viewsMercian

Next to my house someone owns a lockup where he sells and repairs old cars for stock car racing. Today, him, 3 mates and 3 vehicles decided it was a good day to open up , sell and move old bangers claiming the motor trade was essential. I hate to play them and us but they all came in from Nottingham and our village is secluded and does not have much contact with the outside world in ordinary circumstances. On confronting them I was told where to go and threatened with physical violence. It is now in the hands of the police.

Of course not, where have I said that?

So delivering a 1993 wrecked M3 that has sat at the back of his yard and not moved since I moved in here 3 years ago all of a sudden becomes an essential task. Come on.

It’s time to give people one last warning then, drone strikes for people who can’t follow the rules

I told him (the policeman) that I had a video of the person driving his car into me, albeit slowly, the drivers response was I was trespassing on his land and he wanted to get off. I was not on his land but on the pavement. To Derbyshire police it seems not trespassing is more serious than deliberately driving a 2 tonne vehicle into someone.

Derbyshire police seem a funny old bunch, wasn't it them who were using drones to spy on people doing little harm out in the countryside? And then they can't be arsed to deal with that sort of threatening behaviour.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

And where in that quote have I said somebody being rammed by a 2-ton vehicle is acceptable behaviour?

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Again, like Ryorry, you're inferring things I haven't said. I don't know the specifics of any jobs he's doing but the police obviously have a reason for allowing him to trade. Either he's lied to them or he is a legitimate car mechanic.

I think it has something to do with Derbyshire Police being hammered during early lock down for using drones to spy on people. The Deputy Chief Constable was on the local news defending the measures in principle but admitting they had overstepped their authority at least in spirit if not in law.
They seemed very reluctant to rock the boat since then.

Or everyone isn't some lying toad as you always seem to think.

Maybe Mercian is simply telling the truth and the local police can't be bothered.

Deary me.

I replied "In normal circumstances I'd make a complaint (your local plods' approach to this seems shocking to me) - but atm ..."

To which you replied

"To be fair we're only hearing Mercian's side of the story. They might be a legitimate car mechanic business providing an essential service to motorists... particularly as Mercian says himself it's a secluded village.

To which I replied "And somebody being rammed ("albeit slowly") by a 2-ton vehicle is acceptable behaviour?!"

To which you replied
"Of course not, where have I said that?"

So I then quoted your comment ""To be fair we're only hearing Mercian's side of the story. They might be a legitimate car mechanic business providing an essential service to motorists... particularly as Mercian says himself it's a secluded village."

To which you replied "And where in that quote have I said somebody being rammed by a 2-ton vehicle is acceptable behaviour?"

(Apols to other posters for having to bore them to death by spelling it out).

You so often create totally unnecessary arguments out of zilch.

I'm just playing devil's avocado Jeera. Calm yourself. I'm not calling Mercian a liar - it might just be that they do other stuff (that is essential) that he doesn't see.

It may also be, as you say, the local police can't be bothered.

Well done for copying and pasting everything that was already there - and still at no point did I say it was ok to drive a vehicle at someone. My comments have only been about their legitimacy to trade.

Have a good evening.

Then you leave me no option but to conclude that you're either incapable of reading the context of threads, or are incapable of understanding the English language, or both.

You replied to my post originally supposing that I'd replied to one post of Mercian's when I'd actually replied to another - in other words, you replied to the wrong post! and are too stubborn to go back & reconsider, preferring instead to continue arguing over n posts and hours, as per.

And tar and feather them?

Although feathers would be hard to come by nowadays in the sufficient quantity. Most pillows are foam now aren't they.

And then where would you find tar? It would have to be glue. I think I have a Pritt stick somewhere.

We could stick some lumps of foam to them. That'll teach them.
