Premier League *can* restart in 3 weeks... 17:14 - May 11 with 1615 viewsChutney

Apparently.

How likely do we think that is to happen?

Given the money involved- quite likely.

Whether it should is a different and frankly very easy question.

If they insist on a result - The only sensible way of resolving this is to forget any chance of playing again until it is perfectly safe (lets say March) and then finish the league and resume the next season as normal in August / September.

So in effect there will be no 2020/21 season.

So no football until March 2021?!

My word, could you imagine the outcry!!

It'll happen in June.

Very. Because it is driven by money and very little else.

There will be no crowds at matches until this time next year.

The Prem may continue behind closed doors albeit without fans it will be rubbish. The EFL and non-league football rely too much on match day revenues to make this viable, so I can see us mothballing and simply skipping a season.

If a player gets the virus or is in contact with someone who gets the virus, doesn't the whole team have to quarantine for 2 weeks?

That alone should prove it's almost impossible

Missing a year of broadcast income would bankrupt most PL clubs, unless the players agreed to forgo most of their wages.

Even if they only play 2-3 games it will probably accomplish the main objective, to crown Liverpool champions.

Truly impaired.

Surely the main objective is to resolve promotion/relegation?

If they ended the season now and declared Liverpool champions no one* would challenge it

It's all about Villa, Bournemouth and West Ham really.

Sheff U and Man U to a minor extent.
