Perhaps if he'd said at the time that this was the first round of polling. Subsequent polls would be used to identify the entries for the champions spot in a top ten fictional dogs poll of polls.

I quite liked the 28th Dalmatian, we should probably do a run off to select a representative Dalmatian, I know that will be unfair if 28 and 32 both don’t make it to the finals, 32 being better than, well some of the dogs listed, but that maybe a reasonable thing to do, to give others a chance.

Having given this great idea some thought, I'll roll with it from tomorrow. There will be four rounds of ALL fictional dogs listed here and then we shall let the people decide.
I can only hope that such obvious passion for this subject carries through to Saturday's final.
