It's not even direct football per se, it's more all the sh!t housing they get up to. And there's direct and there's direct, Wycombe make a McCarthy side look like they're playing champagne football. Fair play to them though, with their budget and a bunch of limited cloggers they were never likely to get out of this league playing football. |  |

I'm not saying anyone is and I certainly wouldn't want to be watching that week in, week out; they have to play within their means, Gareth Ainsworth even admitted that. It just shows football can be successful with various styles of football, otherwise it would be a complete bore-fest with every team playing in the same manner. | |

That is true but unless you are someone like Man City that play great football AND win games it seems to me that the winning of games is the more important of the two.
At the moment the winning of a game is based on scoring more goals than the opposition despite the wonderful charts that say something like 'they won but they are 15 places lower on possession stats'. [Post edited 14 Jul 2020 10:02]

I would have to agree.
The standard of Championship football these days is lightyears away from what Wycombe have experienced. Very few teams manage to sh1thouse their way into the top half anymore. You only have to look at how much Luton have struggled after strolling to promotion the year before to appreciate Wycombe's task. | | | |
