I don't doubt his medals....he's just not a player I rate or would have in my team.

Well indeed, hence why I asked someone else earlier in the thread in what sense they thought comparing Mings to Luiz was ludicrous (their post seemed to imply that was unfair on Mings)

I can’t remember who the poster was but there was another thread on here the other day asking for a more overrated footballer than Luiz, to which someone responded that they would argue there wasn’t anyone more underrated given that record, and yet pretty much everyone thinking he’s a clown

Luiz's best football was played at the centre of a back three under Conte for Chelsea.
Kind of ironic as he has this reputation for being flamboyant and a ball player, but his role in that team was essentially to be a stopper, then when he had the ball to just lay it off out either side of him with 12/18 yard passes.

He's been a shambles at Arsenal, but Arsenal have been an absolute circus of a club for years. Arteta will turn them around but it's going to be a while before he's moulded the culture there in to what he wants.

I think in fairness, he had been having a relatively okay season leading up to the break. It was that game at City which really highlighted his errors, but he was been okay since coming back in to the side and was probably the best player on the park when they beat City at the weekend.

Your right about Arteta, although I don't think he'll get the funds he wants to properly shape that side.

Indeed, I'm probably being harsh, especially compared to the rest of the Arsenal "defence" - although he was at times an absolute shambles under Emery, without doubt.

Arteta is on a hiding to nothing, not only due to lack of funds but the structure of their "transfer comitee"

Arteta said from the start he wanted Luiz's contract renewed but it had to pass through 3/4 different members of non-playing staff before it was okaied, in which time Luiz had his horrible little spell and had enough time to release a comment to the press where he basicially stated that Arteta has told him he wants to stay and that he (the player himself) wants to stay, the contract still wasn't offered and signed for another week or so after that statement!

They really are a complete circus of a club.
