27 - 31 is about the peak for a centre back I'd suggest

Yes you can put a bit more premium on a hot prospect but you should yield a decent fee for a 27 year old England international?

I'd say £30m is a decent fee for Mings.

I don't think he's wonderful. It's just you've gone to the effort of making three digs at him on this thread and one on another thread. I'm guessing you have been hoping for a reaction that wasn't forthcoming. Well now I've given you a reaction you can get back in your box.

Lot of chuckling here at people who think he’s an established international. He’s been looked at a couple of times because we’ve got a particular lack of CBs. Established? Not even close. An established international at 27 would have close to 50 caps.

He’s a decent enough player, not sure he’s good enough for the top though other than as a squad player.

I know he was briefly with us and so we’ll have a soft spot for him, but a dose of realism wouldn’t go amiss.

Not sure when you think David Luiz got a contract at Arsenal, it would suggest Mings is good enough for Arsenal.

To be fair to Tyrone he came into the game relatively late, is a recent concert to cb and missed the best part of a year through injury.

As an aside Tyrone would love to finish his playing days at Town, info from someone in the know.

Of the clubs linked in the article Everton would be the best move for Tyrone, but I do wonder if there’s a chance he may move to Chelsea?

Obviously Terry is on the staff at Villa and his Dad is/was(?) a scout for Chelsea too.

Lampard hasn’t settled on a favoured back line, I think one of their established centrebacks would have to move for this to happen, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it did.

I actually think he'll look better in a better team, especially in one that plays out from the back. His strength is his composure and ability on the ball which is often what trips defenders up at the big clubs as not many have those attributes. Whether he is good enough for one of the top sides is another matter but if Chelsea did go in for him I'd be interested to see how he gets on.

I think you're right, I'd hate to see him go to Arsenal and become part of that circus, although his attitude and work rate does fit in with Arteta's "non-negotiables" where other players have struggled to adapt.

We all mocked Bloo for suggesting he'd make a good centre half, I'm still of the opinion he only said it because he was tall, but it's fair to say the majority of us were wrong and he's become a very accomplished centre back and looks particularly strong on the left side of a back three!

It's pure speculation on my part, but I think he'd be a good fit there and it'd be the best possible career move for him. (assuming he is to move)

If Luiz got an extension then I'd argue that you and I should buy some boots and head to Arsenal.

He's one player whom I've never understood as a centre back.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

I'd quite like to see him at somewhere like Newcastle if their takeover goes ahead. He definitely deserves to stay in the Prem but not sure if anyone will pay £30m for him.

Arsenal is a decent shout actually.

In fairness, you couldn't understand how calling someone a "window licker" is insulting to the disabled, so you're probably not the benchmark of wisdom that you think you are.

There is somewhat of an irony in you feeling insulted by my comment, yet claiming that "window licker" is in no way derogatory towards the disabled.

Mings is a good Championship player. No better than that in my view. He hasn't been particularly good when I've watched him this season and I can't see any of the better teams in the Premier League signing him. Players like Adam Webster and Craig Cathcart, defenders at struggling sides, are superior.

Norwich will be the place for Premier League clubs to go to for defenders this summer, Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis good enough to play for a club like Everton or even Spurs.

Come off it. I agree that Luiz would be best placed elsewhere on the football field (mainly as a holding mid or central midfielder), but making out Mings is better than him? I'm not so sure.

Luiz's best football was played at the centre of a back three under Conte for Chelsea.
Kind of ironic as he has this reputation for being flamboyant and a ball player, but his role in that team was essentially to be a stopper, then when he had the ball to just lay it off out either side of him with 12/18 yard passes.

He's been a shambles at Arsenal, but Arsenal have been an absolute circus of a club for years. Arteta will turn them around but it's going to be a while before he's moulded the culture there in to what he wants.
