....we can't play 4 at the back because the only LB we've got is Hurst. He was crap and I'm not having him anywhere near the team. Keane was more than capable of playing CB in a 3. Balls.

.....due to the formation. Think he offers more going forward than Sir Alf.

I may be wrong here but didn't Goddard act a temporary keeper a couple of times in the days before there was sub keeper on the bench?

I think you could shift Burley across to LB, get Ramsey in and stick Keane in a diamond. I'd find room for John Wark ahead of Tony Mowbray if caretakers are included - or stick McCarthy in goal

Certainly although in Alf Ramsey's playing days fullbacks rarely if ever crossed the halfway line but I understand that Ramsey was an important part of the Spurs title winning team in the early 1950's with his passing abilities from RB.

....would it p*ss him off more than playing next to Mick? We have been blessed with some excellent players as managers, shame they weren't/aren't all excellent managers though.

Play him in goal, out of position there would be a poetic justice to that

Keane would have departed from the squad anyway since he wouldn’t think management were taking things seriously enough by naming deceased players

Most players and experts said Ramsey read the game better than any other player at the time and his distributed of the ball was as good as any player. The irony given the current style is biggest criticism of Ramsey's playing style was he tried to pass it too much whereas a defender in those days was expected to simply hoof it up field. I think a lot of Spurs fans turned against him because he overplayed it in a semi final resulting in a goal and Spurs defeat
