Well, if you voted for a bunch of failed journalists to run the country.... on 11:17 - Oct 31 by Bluesquid | So with mandatory mask wearing since April yet they still now find themselves heading into a month long lockdown. "Germany has seen the biggest rise in new daily cases of coronavirus since April, a surge that health minister Jens Spahn described as “alarming”." "COVID-19: Germany sees 6-month record in daily infections" Was about 6 months ago that mask wearing was made mandatory and as we can see it has clearly not been effective in stemming the exponential rise in infections. |
Everything is relative. Their current infection rate is half of Sweden. Can’t see how you can say masks don’t work because Germany have chosen to go into a lockdown at much lower infection rates than other countries. Maybe check out South Korea, Thailand....

But the 6 month long mandatory mask wearing has not prevented the "alarming surge" (German health minister) and now looming lockdown has it?

You just keep on repeating the same old childish nonsense Squidders. They are going into lockdown with far more control over the virus than the UK. All you hinge your fallacious argument on is whether countries have a lockdown or not. Guess what? Maybe people would rather judge efficacy of virus response by how our respective health services cope and how many deaths related directly and indirectly to COVID19 there are, rather than how many times we have to go into lockdown? Let's revisit this over the coming months. FFS. The amount of people not accepting reality is mind blowing.

Mask are mainly to protect other people in case you have the virus. There is some evidence you might get a lower dose while wearing a mask if you catch the virus. Masks do not stop you getting the virus and no one has claimed they do.

You are right, it should be placed in the correct section but the title hardly hid the nature of the post. Regardless of which section it is in, you do not HAVE to click on a thread that clearly does not interest you.

The looming lockdown is necessary because of multiple Government failures. Most notably over track and trace and the misappropriation of Government (taxpayer ... our) money instead of fixing it. Lockdown will not solve the problem. It will reduce the number of extra deaths and without it the worst case scenario is about to get far worse.

Well, if you voted for a bunch of failed journalists to run the country.... on 13:44 - Oct 31 with 435 views | MaySixth | Just 10 days ago at PMQs, Boris Johnson called the idea of a second lockdown “the height of absurdity”, a policy that would that would inflict unnecessary “misery” on the public and would “turn the lights out”, Now the prime minister is poised not only to adopt that very policy — another national lockdown of the economy and much of society — but for a longer period, because he delayed.

lol, Dyland, well done for completely ignoring the point about masks. It's about the 6 month long mandatory mask wearing in Germany and how they have failed to prevent an increase in infections. [Post edited 31 Oct 2020 14:02]

You are so tedious. No, mandatory mask wearing has not prevented the virus from spreading in Germany, but you must understand that mask wearing reduces the rate of infection, right? It is not enough to keep the virus in check, but without sensible measures like wearing masks, the rate of infection would be much higher than it is in reality. Just because it isn’t 100% effective doesn’t mean that it’s 0% effective; there’s a big grey area in between.

Well, if you voted for a bunch of failed journalists to run the country.... on 10:14 - Oct 31 by Bluesquid | You mean like Germany then that has a state of the art track and trace in place and has had mandatory mask wearing since April and off they now go into a month long lockdown. Track and trace and mandatory mask wearing since April has done them the world of good hasn't it? |
Germany seem to be doing considerably better on pretty much every metric to do with health, the economy, openness of their society, etc. They've still struggled of course, but are in a much better position than the UK.
