Makes me laugh people already sayin the Merc is the reason why Hamilton wins.

They forget. Hamilton working with the engineers built the car he doesn't just get in it lol.

In football, the player's full potential is only as good as his club - same with F1.

Hamilton has made driving his life and has clearly done enough to be signed by the best team. The two go together well.

As a personality, Hamilton isn't everyone's cup of tea, but that can't really factor into the argument of his racing skill and success.

That’s a pretty ridiculous statement, not very good? Haha.

Not ridiculous at all. Obviously I'm comparing him to his peers rather than the man on the street, but in that context Bottas is pretty bang average.

Sums it up for me.

Even in his rookie year he pushed a multiple world champion in the same car and obviously without his own development and was a little unfortunate not to be a winner, that season alone told us that Hamilton was special.

And as we know, the wet races level up everything in terms of grip and power and he’s dominated those.

A true great, odd personality but I don’t think anyone who’s understands F1 can deny he’s probably the best of the best. Even in the late Mclaren years in a duffer car he outperformed expectations.

I would imagine all F1 drivers have input into the car design though.
But yes he is the best driver right now, and one of the all time best for sure

He beat Alonso on countback in his rookie year rather than "pushed".

An incredible feat really given Alonso was a double world champion at the top of his game. The BBC podcast described it as the "best rookie year" in F1 history.

In the late McLaren years he accrued fewer points than Jenson Button over the 3 years they were teammates. It wasn't a duffer of a car either, it wasn't the most reliable but it was quick enough.

Lewis is the best ever. Probably one of England's greatest ever at any sport.
He has won every title clean as a whistle.

He is one of my few Sporting Icons that I hold in high regard.
He is in my top 5 along with Sir Bobby Robson and John Wark.

Actually I am genuinely struggling for any others!! I could maybe add George Burley purely because as in comparison he created 6 years of highlights 96-01!!

Outside of Football and ITFC I could maybe add Daley Thompson.

Shefki Kuqi is one of my sporting icons, not because he was the best, he wasn't even the best striker in our team at the time, that was Darren Bent, but because he came as a refugee from the war torn Balkans, had to learn multiple languages and adapt to different climates and cultures, gave absolutely everything and made the most of his talent, and really seemed to enjoy it.

It would be amazing if he could come in as ITFC manager and get us all loving it again.

But it ending badly wouldn't bare contemplating!
