On the anniversary of John Lennon’s murder 13:54 - Dec 8 with 2840 viewsGlasgowBlue

Your favourite Lennon solo track.

I’ve always had a soft spot for this cover of Stand By Me. Adds a bit of bite to the original.

This was the definitive version of IMO Lennon's best solo song.

#9 Dream has already been posted which is probably my favourite.

This is right up there too. Requiem for the 60s dream.

Such a beautiful love song

And I've always liked this

Although John died on the 8th in USA, in the UK where he was born it was the 9th at the time. Which fits into John's obsession with the number 9.

Saw Queen that night at Wembley Arena. In the middle of the show Brian May sat on a stool with an acoustic guitar and Freddie sang Imagine. Nothing was said - it didn't need to be.

Imagine didn't get to No 1 until 1981.

Never said it did. I asked what song it knocked off. The song in question was no 1 at Xmas 1980.

Yep.

Sandwiched by two Lennon No 1s as it knocked (Just like) Starting over off the top spot before Imagine took the No 1 in early 1981.

Imagine didn't knock the Christmas number one off it's spot. Lennon's Starting Over was the 1980 Christmas No 1. St Winifred then knocked that off just before New Year, which was in turn knocked off by Lennon with Imagine early in 1981.
