Phil Ham Email Reply on 10:13 - Dec 11 by Funge | Good post, agree with this. I'm absolutely not criticising anyone who wants to go and watch us at present - after the absolute brimming barrel of toss that 2020 has been, I fully recognise that the opportunity to watch football in the flesh, is a big step back towards normality for many. For me, though, this club can swing until Lambert goes. It's easy to sound pompous, but the club I knew growing up isnt there any more - it's just a strange shell for Evans' entertainment, without direction, optimism or happiness. Yes, another joyful post from the Funge estate. |
Now fans are back the mood music in the ground will be the key. Even if people boycott, how much of it is down to the current situation and how much down to a vareity of other reasons? It's almost impossible for the club to work out where the line is between boycott and not able/willing to go - and I think for some fans their 'boycott' is circumstancial as well.

Of course. Hopefully, sufficient draw it close enough to ME’s sandcastle. That clearly isn’t happening yet. I think the seriously disenchanted number very few as things stand.

Phil Ham Email Reply on 10:02 - Dec 11 by Seablu | The trouble is we need at least 50% of the fan base to take this stance. Looking at the excitement generated by the ballot, we’re light years away from forcing a complete rethink from within the club. |
That's exactly what I said last Saturday. They hear and read words of discontentment on here/Twitter etc, but they just laugh because ultimately it's a lot of hot air from many as people will still go to the games on offer (losing any of 2,000 against 8,000+ season ticket isn't going to happen), so people still, in the main, purchase iFollow and merchandise. That's why any major or significant voice of discontent against the regime will, sadly, fail because we are not united as a fanbase. People will not pull together as a collective to put the message across. Yes, people will make their voices here on a forum and social media, but many will still buy tickets, people will still purchase iFollow and any action by the minority will just be 'stamped' and frowned upon by the club and others who aren't willing to make a stand. Phil Ham Email Reply on 02:09 - Dec 11 by BLUEBEAT | This is what I don’t understand. It’s nuts. I think they’re using the team selection thing as a general excuse for something else i.e. Lambert doesn’t like the, ahem, unmoderated/sanctioned questions coming from Ham/TWTD. |
I remember in 2012 there was a 6-a-side tournament on the pitch at PR, there were two teams from on here who played. TWTD Red and TWTD Black, we were all wearing kit we had got from the club. Kept 2 clean sheets in goal with Phil doing a sterling job at left-back. Simon Milton was the bloke who was running the tournament, he sorted the kits out for the TWTD sides. Watched a lot of the games and came across as a really nice bloke, very assured doing the presentations at the end. It was a crime that he was let go when he should have been doing the job that Clegg/Milne/O'Neil have been doing. He was liked by everyone and understood the club.

50% of the fan base is an impossible number to get to if that’s what you think is needed to force change. What percentage of town fans normally regularly attend matches? What percentage of those are genuine ‘Lambert out’? What percentage of those feel strongly enough to actually ‘boycott’ or change their behaviour? I think you’re way down into single figures unfortunately.

Exactly! An actual connection to the fan base, involvement, engaging. Not like whatever the hell this is that's going on now, which seems to be pretty much the polar opposite. What a way to go.

Yep, I should have been clearer. In the harshest terms, I meant 50% of the fan base that either buys a season ticket, attends most of the home games or spends a hideous amount on club shop merchandise. ME can ignore those who merely howl Lambert & or Evans out at the moon on forums, but contribute nothing financially to the club. ME can ignore those who just buy a badge, lunchbox or the occasional replica shirt. ME can ignore those who just enjoy the match day experience regardless of manager and/or quality of playing personnel. I think you’re right. Might stretch to double figures if I’m optimistic.
