Is it a metaphor for ITFC or are ITFC a metaphor for Brexit?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

We are living the dream here in more ways than one. The brexit brigade wanted it hard, and now we're getting it hard.

I can't wait to see how much better off we're going to be, this is going to be great. Going to be listening to God Save the Queen all night on the 1st.

The situation we face has been inevitable for years. Boris won’t budge and the EU are not going to agree anything that France might veto.

Be interesting to see if any cracks start to appear within the EU over the next three weeks.

Sunday next is the effective deadline for a decision. Maybe the cracks will appear in the UK position. All EU countries have a veto ( even the UK before they decided to leave ).

I bet you 10p that when it's announced officially that a deal is dead in the water and therefore the "oven ready deal" quote makes him look like Billy Liar... Again, Boris disappears for a few weeks... Again.

All they said was Sunday they will decide whether they carry on talking...no more.

BJs finally working out he can't simply charm or bs the EU into submission. Their position is pretty simple, so he has to fck over the Brexitloons in his own party who put him in power, or fck over the country.

His choice...

Yes Malta population under 500,000 could veto any agreement.

France is the country most likely to veto having got themselves in a no win position over fishing. The EU emergency proposals that cover transport links, air rail, road and sea are even linked to agreeing EU access to UK waters.

The reason Sunday is the effective deadline is because the final agreement has to be tidied up legally then translated into all EU members languages and voted on by them. In order for everything to be completed by the actual deadline, Sunday is the last practical date for this.

Surely they could agree on 31st December a 1 month rollover of the current terms subject to translating / approval of an agreed deal.

We've heard it all before so I just don't buy that Sunday is the end point.

Your view is an opinion, mine is based on facts. I think it is obvious what is happening here. The downside of brinkmanship you eventually come to the brink.

I'm not suggesting it is sensible not to tie up the deal asap. I merely repeated the position as stated by the beeb journos last night on the Newscast - namely that Sunday is not an absolute deadline for a deal.

It possibly is for the EU.

Yep, and I think they (you) hold all the cards here. Be clear, I am fan of the EU and why on earth we are leaving I have no idea.

Hopefully BJ sees sense and recognises what's on offer is way better to a No deal. It would cost us a fortune and would probably see Scotland leave within a few years too.

That is a most sensible assessment of the current situation.

There are three outstanding issues remaining to get the 'oven ready' deal. This article explains them. https://www.ft.com/content/3832428d-1233-46cb-ad46-3c2e1dbdda9c

The thinking is that the EU can and should compromise further in the fishing area since we are just talking numbers and percentages. UK must do so for the level playing field since this is the basis of trade in EU. The third one is really only there because UK threatened to break international law so the EU does not trust that this will not happen with the Brexit deal. There is no good faith left in this negotiation so an arbitrator is necessary.

Jeez - your last sentence - that's a shocker - didn't know that.

Btw, can anyone say if no-deal will weaken our security?

Not sure about security at a high level but we can won't be able to use the European Arrest Warrant or get co-operation from EU Police forces.

Boris sees sense, in a Trumplike way.
