Covidiots part 385858372 on 20:24 - Jan 22 by Swansea_Blue | Interesting. Batsh*t crazy being aligned with the deniers, but interesting nonetheless. Seems to be lacking consideration of the greater good or helping one’s neighbour. Sure, lockdowns are something we all want to avoid. But they are a proven approach when used correctly. They also don’t have to go on so long, again when used correctly in an appropriate response to a contagious disease. They’d be better off directing their misplaced moral superiority towards the idiots in charge who have mismanaged this, rather than pick on one of the response tool. Any tool in the hands of someone incompetent is useless. |
I regularly deliver in the N16 and E5 areas,( they are adjacent) and in certain days you wouldn’t know there was a pandemic let alone a lock down.

Covidiots part 385858372 on 17:30 - Jan 22 by bluelagos | Did you cycle the "world's most dangerous" road near La Paz? Done it a couple of times, the down hill tarmac section I managed to beat all the Kiwis/Aussies/Yanks - awesome fun albeit a bit unforgiving if you go over the edge... |
Yes I did do it, absolutely loved it. You talk about going over the edge, I'll never forget how our guide was in tears telling us about what happened around a year previously. An English guy who by all accounts was a very keen cyclist went over the edge and tragically died. They seem to think he may not of acclimatized to the altitude, briefly passed out and went over the edge. Much to his parents credit they decided to raise money to pay for an air ambulance based in La Paz.

Covidiots part 385858372 on 18:35 - Jan 22 by Radlett_blue | I remember using taxis in Egypt some years ago & saw that the taxi drivers refused to turn on their headlights at night. I asked our driver why and he replied "Because I'm a very good driver". |
In India they seem to like driving at night with full beam on because they can see better! [Post edited 24 Jan 2021 17:18]

Covidiots part 385858372 on 15:34 - Jan 22 by Clapham_Junction | Unfortunately many religious people think they are above the law because religious rules are more important. The behaviour of the ultra-orthodox is a regular issue in Israel. It's a bit depressing that we still have so many religious people in the 21st century. |
More trouble in Hackney - 300 this time - those religious people hey? https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/riot-police-storm-illegal-rave-hackney-lon

I think you are conflating two things here. These people are clearly just idiots who wanted a party. It was probably organised very quickly and they turned up. They were deservedly fined and they should be seen as idiots. The wedding must have been planned ages in advance given it was booked in a school and attended my whole families who really should have known better. Doesn't excuse either event of course and both are idiotic. As per previous posts though, the Orthodox community have struggled with the rules since last March - this isn't a one-off occurrence within that specific community and area. The context of the thread was about religion. That's why there are higher rates over others in some particular areas. It would be the same if it were a church building or a mosque or any other place people are determined to get together because they think they are immune because of their own deity, beliefs, whatever. The lot you are pointing out are just a bunch of morons.

Forgive me jeera but I saw no mention of those othodox bods believing they were safe because of God's protection - might have missed it though. I think they just thought that a wedding was a good enough reason to take the risk, just like the bods I just linked to thought a party was a good enough reason. I just object to prejudging people based on creed, when the commonality is actualy human selfishness.

There are a lot of cultural issues at play I think. I’m doing a fair bit of work for a family in the Romany community. There is a complete lack of understanding of the nature of the virus, a lack of understanding of quarantining and a complete reluctance to follow the rules. Absolutely no chance they will go for a vaccine. It is so ingrained that it is impossible to break through. They are not bad people, just completely ignorant as to the issues. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Edited: So what are you saying? These people are just fecking morons like the others and their particular reasons for acting selfishly are nothing other than they fancied celebrating a wedding and having a bit of a party. [Post edited 24 Jan 2021 17:45]
