Well the point he's making is that the Conservatives have made such a hash of boarder control of any kind, the situation where illegal immigrants are now coming into the country largely uncontested and untested (and has been the case since their famous take back control election of 2019), it is maybe more important to get that right first and under control first before picking on the people who are coming from our neighboring countries where we know who the people are, they have passports, quarantines, testing and so on.
It's the Conservatives fault, all of this. If this were a Labour government where the channel situation was happening, the right wing press would be going to war over it. Because it's the poster child of modern Conservatism in Pritti Patel, a souless, evil, careerist of below average intelligence they won't say a word about how useless they have been in regard to boarder controls, whether that be legal or illegal people coming here.
