Comes from the fact , that after 2 and a half years , Lambert might have finally coupled a team with a system that appears to work.
Just as strong rumours surface of a takeover bid and a change of manager.
Another good performance today and I would strongly recommend any future manager to keep riding this wave until may at least.

Yeah that's what I was getting at re Hull. Everything you've noted there - effort and running, winning 50-50 challenges, chasing and harrying, great pressing - we haven't seen anywhere near enough of. Then suddenly, seemingly overnight, they start doing it. And then we hear a takeover has been rumbling behind the scenes.

They're not playing for the manager. They're playing for the shiny new dollars!

I disagree we were only average against Oxford. I didn't mention Northampton. As I said to Spruce - I said a couple of games.

A disjointed 0-0 draw at home to a mid-table team, albeit on a decent run? It just looked acceptable because of how awful Northampton was, and generally how cr*p we are these days.

It really wasn't.

Any how, if there's a new boss I'd much rather he implemented his own ideas rather than try to replicate the ideas of manager in his dying moments who has dragged us into the mud by deploying random team and tactics selections.

Oh yeah I don't disagree with that.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I didn't think you watched games now?

But anyway, let's not get into that again. I admit, my rating of the Oxford game may well have been knocked up a couple of notches more than it should because it followed the absolute dirge which was the Northampton one.

To be clear I thought it was a good performance rather than a great one - and the commentary team agreed.

I can still watch the highlights, read match reports, read the views of others. As we know, Dollers, watching on iFollow you're not really getting to see the game either according to ME.

Scraping a win against a top ten team for the first time in goodness knows how long is hardly get the open top bus out time. We don’t score goals and deservedly sit mid table in League One. Some sort of change whether ownership manager or both cannot come quickly enough.

We didn't scrape a win, we thoroughly deserved that win against Hull. If it had been 0-3 no-one would have complained.

We all hate Lambert and want him gone, but be honest. And as I've said, I don't think that performance was down to him anyway.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I think the main thing here is , we all hate Lambert, myself included, but if we have found a formula that works, why throw the baby out with the bath water?
Surely any future manager would look at previous performances, and not repeat the mistakes Lambert has continually made.

Because, and I'll repeat this again, Lambert is hopeless so no new manager should look at what he's done as a blueprint. We've had two decent performances, even a third one today barely constitutes a run. It'd be three decent performances. We've managed that at times before under Lambert and it then goes to pot. I would hope a new manager will come in with their own ideas and rightly so. A new manager will actually have stuff like tactics and systems, imagine that!

Couple is now understood primarily to refer to two when used as a bare noun ("they make a nice couple"), but is often used to refer to a small indeterminate of two or more when used in the phrase a couple of ("I had a couple of cups of coffee and now I can't sleep.").

You have to look at the injury list we had all the way through to January, it was horrendous with players either out long term or coming back from injury and then playing odd game before collapsing again. Then add COVID to it around Christmas when (i know other clubs had it but we had big players out at same time).
Having said all that the passing around at the back football was really not working for us, it also did work for us in the championship when PL tried it.

He’s had the team and system before now at different times. And ample evidence of the league and to get the team working.

I think the big difference is a simpler style and getting the ball to the forwards quicker and more direct. Really as most League One and in fact Championship sides do.

Previously, and I’m pretty sure it will come back again, we’ve just over-complicated stuff, playing it out from the back and dominating the possession stats to almost no purpose and with zero threat. But perhaps like some of our fans and some of our players, Lambert needed to stop thinking we were better than we were and better than the league. Quite clearly we are where we deserve to be despite having a better squad on paper than almost everyone else. If we had a squad like everyone else we’d be at the bottom of the table.

There’s absolutely no way that any credible football manager would pick up anything where Lambert left it.

"It confirms my view that if the team operated without a manager at all they would be in and around the play offs just working it out for themselves."

Couldn't agree more! Sorry Mr Lambert, can you find your own way out or do you need help with that as well?
