After reading the lowestoft thread on here the other day what about- is lowestoft Haverhill by the sea without the cultural highlights of the sports center and Mott's field etc?

Erm, excuse me but Lowestoft has the recently refurbed Water Lane leisure centre. Doesn't have a slide in the pool though.

Lowestoft was also the birthplace of Benjamin Britten. So let's see if Haverhill can top that.

If I had taken a fall on a loose paving slab during this morning’s run then I’d be up for it. Instead I’m sitting in pain feeling sorry for myself.

Will you take a rain check?

Kier Starmer > Jeremy Corbyn.

There that should do it....

I doubt so, it's a no brainer, Starmer is superior in every way all day long...

I just noticed Haverhill sport centre is now called Haverhill leisure centre so is probably even more impressive now. Don't think it as a slide in pool but was always rammed full of inflatable sh1te and suspiciously warm in patches

Having recently got into House of Cards (US version - watched uk at the time cos I'm old) I'm a little troubled. Is it ok to watch and enjoy this show and particularly Spacey, given the allegations against him?

(any good?)

I recently finished house of cards. Spacey is brilliant in it (as he was in most things).

It’s a pity he decided to destroy his reputation (and the show) by being a big raging pedo. It’s hard to put it completely out of your head while watching him though.

On a side note I hadn’t a clue there was a UK version originally!

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

If I could be bothered then I would as my elbow is now twice the size and getting bigger by the hour.

Two loose paving slabs, so definitely not my fault. The only positive is that my Mrs was behind me, so it was me that took the fall rather than her.

Oh and it's starting to hurt when I take a breath now. What a bummer.

At least you can milk it with the Mrs pointing out that you took a fall to protect her. Reckon that can could be wheeled out for a good few months.

Nathaniel Ward, the author of the first constitution in North America, was born in Haverhill in 1578.

It was also the inspiration for BBC drama series The Newcomers.

Tony McPhee of The Groundhogs is based there.

Nick Hancock the comedian and panel show host did his teaching practice there.

I like to think im related to Nathaniel Ward. I bizarrely met yer man from the groundhog's in a 2nd hand record shop in Haverhill in the 90,s. I'd never heard if um, him and his wife just started talking to me. They were talking about some studio they were building at the edge of town and the groundhog's etc. I think they had possibly miss understood my long hair and dopey highs for hippie rather then raver. I thought for a few minutes they were swingers

In 1971 The Groundhogs were THE band, well maybe for three weeks in 1971

He is most certainly aware of the existence of Haverhill. My great aunt Harriet has written to him many times on the matter of intercourse in the street outside her pied-à-terre. She is getting very tired of it.
