What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 12:08 - Apr 12 by hoppy | I did - I was slightly early, but I didn't overstep the mark in approaching the entrance earlier than I should. The guidance and help was efficient and friendly, the whole thing was as it should be, tidy and no problems encountered at all. (thanks for the 'tip off'!) I still have the booking this afternoon at the one near Portman Road to see a comparison. This will be made up of more old carpet, new carpet offcuts, wood from a broken chest of drawers and some more cardboard. [Post edited 12 Apr 2021 12:28]

The Portman Road one could do with a lick of paint and some weed killer sprayed around. The Landfill site is fine though.

I've certainly seen a fair bit of rubbish at both in recent times, to be fair.

What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 20:01 - Apr 11 by StochesStotasBlewe | Belchamp St Paul is a rather quaint village. Lovely pub, The Half Moon overlooking the green. Some attractive cottages and scenic countryside. Dibley. |
Belchamp Walter is home to Belchamp Hall, used as the fictional Felsham Hall in Lovejoy.

Fictional hall indeed. Felsham itself has a village hall. They could have used that.

What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 07:54 - Apr 12 by Bent_double | If I'm driving to see family in Leiston, I always prefer to turn off onto the back road at Walberswick and go through Middleton, which looks like a lovely quintessentially pretty English village with the village green and pub. It's a 'blink and you've missed it' kind of place, and certainly a nicer road to drive than the A12. |
If you're ever there around Christmas then have the Cutty Wren procession - proper Midsomer Murders stuff.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk/content/articles/2007/12/18/cutty_wren_gc_feature.s

Has my first ever pint in there, some thirty years ago. Was a cracking pub in its day.

Isn't there supposed to be a stone on the village green in Middleton that if you go around it three times anti-clockwise reciting the Lord's Prayer backwards you summon up the Devil?

Chantry has a lot going for it. At the time it was built it was the largest council estate in the country. We could do with a bit more social housing these days.
