I've not around that way for many years but seem to remember Eye was nice little place, with a square I think? It's one of those places that some would call a village and others a small town. Bit like Lavenham, I've always thought it a village, but one of the locals was irritated when I once said so and put me right, "It's an old wool town boy" before proceeding to give an uninvited history lesson.

What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 14:45 - Apr 11 with 2758 views | judespiveyg | Pre-2016ish Fram was pretty great, don't get me wrong it's still really nice in the middle of town and around the College/mere but 4 or 5 housing estates in a short space of time hasn't done it many favours. As for villages the Easton/Letheringham area is a nice place to be. IP13>rest of Suffolk [Post edited 11 Apr 2021 15:00]

What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 15:37 - Apr 11 with 2706 views | Churchman | Much of East Anglia is lovely to be fair. So many good places. Aldeburgh, Southwold are lovely for the coastal stuff, A lot of the villages are pretty and for little towns, Framingham is nice, as is Woodbridge. For Norfolk, Sheringham, Cromer, Wells, the Broads in particular are all great. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Yes the pub is really nice, called the Bell Inn. It was built in the 14th Century. Kersey really is a little gem. The view from the church is stunning, as it sits on a hill.

Beccles is the correct side of the Waveney and hence is definitely in Suffolk. Has an NR postcode but that can't be helped. It is however, a town so cannot be the prettiest village.

What do you think is the prettiest village in our part of the country? on 07:54 - Apr 12 with 2364 views | Bent_double | If I'm driving to see family in Leiston, I always prefer to turn off onto the back road at Walberswick and go through Middleton, which looks like a lovely quintessentially pretty English village with the village green and pub. It's a 'blink and you've missed it' kind of place, and certainly a nicer road to drive than the A12.

I did - I was slightly early, but I didn't overstep the mark in approaching the entrance earlier than I should. The guidance and help was efficient and friendly, the whole thing was as it should be, tidy and no problems encountered at all. (thanks for the 'tip off'!) I still have the booking this afternoon at the one near Portman Road to see a comparison. This will be made up of more old carpet, new carpet offcuts, wood from a broken chest of drawers and some more cardboard. [Post edited 12 Apr 2021 12:28]
