Our Pitch Dimensions/ American Football 12:51 - Apr 12 with 900 views | chrismakin | Does anyone that follow both sports know if an American Football Field is bigger than our pitch at PR Just wandered if we could be seeing some American Football at Portman Road in the future.

I think it's 100 yards x 50ish yards, though you need a bit of endzone space too. Think of games at Spurs - the NFL pitch is narrow enough to have all the touchline room needed for their vast squads and stuff. I can't imagine the ITFC ground staff being too happy with the main pitch being used though!

You didn't eat enough humongous pretzels and hotdogs, obviously.

Minimum length of football pitch is 90m (100 yards), although 100m for international matches. Not sure how Portman Road measures up to that.

It's wide but there are longer pitches and we don't have a lot of space beyond the touchlines, there are probably more obvious grounds to try?

I thought the pitch at PR was 102m long (so 110 yards or so).

I’ve always been surprised by the allowed tolerance on the width of a pitch. It’s allowed to be a minimum of 50 yards, up to a max of 100 yards, but the touch line must always be longer than the goaline (min 100 yards, max 130 yards) [Post edited 12 Apr 2021 20:32]

Our Pitch Dimensions/ American Football on 19:04 - Apr 12 with 618 views | J2BLUE | Almost certainly not. NFL teams are too big for our ground and they have a deal with Spurs/Wembley and I think, Twickenham for games to be staged. Spurs have also built two changing rooms especially for NFL use. PR just isn't big enough for NFL. The only way I could see it happening is if the Ipswich Cardinals (do they still exist?) played on the practice pitch but even that would need some sort of stand. With the work due to take place I don't think it's even viable.

Ah shame, I've started watching abit of historic NFL lately as keen to follow it from September, really enjoyed the Superbowl
