Is there something in a loan manager 12:01 - Apr 14 with 715 viewsCheltenham_Blue

being part of the new set up? We don't seem to do very well with getting the kids out on loans that really help their development.

Very often we seem to loan to clubs who are operating below their levels too. I find it hard to believe that there aren't any L2 clubs that they would benefit from the experience of.

It’s a good point; they seem to end up at 7th tier clubs or Scotland, not play much, then return. Other than Wolf at Swindon and Downes at Luton can’t think of any who have had a good run on loan

El Miz's first spell at Cambridge went well until he got injured.

The flip side of your point is, of course, that we can’t force clubs to take our players on loan... maybe they’re just not that good?

Problem is, League 1 youngsters are most likely going to end up in conference or below on loans.

The occasional one will get a League 2 move.

I think a loan manager is more to do with monitoring the performance and welfare of the loan players rather than improving where they are sent to.

The players aren't good enough. Getting loan players of any quality out is easy....but only if they are good enough.

Quite often the youngsters go on trial pre loan which is never really mentioned. Ndaba for example was on trial at Crawley with a view to a loan and they didn't want him after that.

The only clubs that have them have vast amounts of players out on loan that they need to manage and who simply view the player as an asset to sell. We are not in that position.

That’s a good point.

Other clubs are not exactly breaking the doors down at PR to take our players on loan. That should tell us something.
