Some of you may know this BUT Robert John 'Mutt Lange (the man who produced the 3rd biggest selling album of all time (ACDC's Back In Black) also wrote and produced the Town's 1978 FA Cup song 'Ipswich, Get that goal'. Apparently it was because of his connection with fellow South African 'Ace' Viljoen.

Another part of this story is that the band backing the Ipswich ‘singers’ were an American band called Clover. Lange was producing an album of theirs in London. They went on to become Huey Lewis and the News. Incidentally, Lange was married to Shania Twain at some point.

That bit I didn't know. I asked Beat about Mutt Lange and he said he remembered "a South African bloke" being in charge. They were basically given loads of beer to get them singing.
