I feel sorry for Drinan 21:49 - May 10 with 1598 viewsStenvict

In Mental Health Awareness week, all he will be seeing online right now is people questioning why he's still with us and fans (the usual suspects) telling him that he's not good enough and what a disgraceful decision it is.

Let's not forget he scored as many as Jackson did this season.

It's not personal abuse. It's people questioning if he's good enough. There's a big difference.

Truly impaired.

Or porn. There is some of that online too if he looks hard enough.

The same Jackson most people are happy to see leave the club to. So it's not really comparable.

What I personally dont understand is the guy has 10 goals to his name in football. In 5 years.

He takes up a squad place.
Hes shown nothing to suggest imo he can do anything at this level other than run around a bit
If Drinans on the bench. Imo that place should be taken by an academy player.

I do hope it's just to sell him even if for 10k

The chances of him taking a squad space are very small. Wait and see before you lose your mind.

As regards the Jackson comparison, I think we all go along with Phil's analysis which is that Cook may well be looking to retain him to sell him for a fee - we know that there was interest in him not so long ago, and if we can cash in, we should. With respect to Drinan, there will be no cash offers for him.

This forum has shouted and shouted until the manager was disposed of, shouted and shouted until the owner was disposed of, who else is there to complain about apart from the players?

Drinan has the chance to play for Ipswich Town football club. I hope that the fact he's being told he's good enough by the man who matters will be positive for his mental health. Once the squad takes shape and we approach the new season, I will fully support him and his colleagues. I hope he is already having a rest and ignoring what idiots like me say on here.

You do make a fair point, and it's one that we should all keep in mind more. But I think we should remember the mental health of ordinary fans too - we've been kept out of the football club during the pandemic, and the opportunity to make our feelings known in person has been lacking. This has been immensely frustrating, and so I think it's to be expected that there will be more venting online, especially when we've had to put up with what has been unquestionably the worst Town side in the last half century. Many many people posted the squad members that they would retain. With great respect to Drinan, there was a consensus on him that was lacking on pretty much every other player. I hope he proves us all wrong next season.

If football fans can’t give their opinions on the ability of players at their club on a dedicated club football forum...

If we've just got a hunch re Drinan and are going to just send him on loan to League 2 for the season there's nothing wrong with that at all. Should also have done that with Nydam in my opinion.

It really depends. If it is giving your opinion to fellow fans on here, then I agree with you, there is no issue.

But if people are directly messaging him on social media they need to grow up.

Not sure what the OP is suggesting
