Chambo final interviews now up... 19:43 - May 14 with 4989 viewsSwailsey

Seems to back up the stories about brief meetings.

I can’t help but just love him.

Well no one has stayed here for long enough since Richard Naylor and Fabian Wilnis

True...but Skuse and Chambers although coming across as nice people do not deserve a testimonial and nor should testimonials be played anymore.

It won’t happen, but if it were to do so I think it would be deserved and a lot of fans would like to go along and raise some money for a good cause so couldn’t see the downside of it.

I'd be interested to know when the last testimonial game was played in the professional game. On a side note the last one I attended was Beatties I think.

To be honest I don't think many would turn up. Not because of the players but because people just don't do it anymore. I did Warks, Beatties and Hunters I think. I'm sure Beatties was a foreign team but can't remember who had Celtic ....and I was there. My old boss from Ipswich market was a Scot and in the Celtic end.

So when all the players were making a point of hugging him on Sunday, he didn’t know til Monday’s meeting that he was going?

Come off it.

“One more time”

And Skuse said he knew a couple of weeks ago.

There’s a lot going on that doesn’t ring true!

( I realise they haven’t had a testimonial - but that fans want one. Not many players play at one club so long)

Agreed, a charity match to raise funds and recognise their contribution to the club would be great. Especially as they have had to bow out with fans absent. What's the harm in it? Suppose it depends on how much they pissed off PC.

The only thing is the pitch redevelopment, no idea what is being done or when it's due to be ready.

Chambers is well past his sell by date! You wouldn't buy him in Sainsburys...!!

I don't shop at Poundland but are you sure you're not on sale on the bottom shelf?

Is it ok to be upset after watching that

Wow, the bloke was holding back tears for much of that. For all the sh!t that has happened the past few years there were some bloody good times with him, the play-off season on the whole, the survival (light work in the end) in Mick’s first season, his late winners and many jubilant fist pumps.

He’s not been everyone’s cup of tea on the pitch (not sure why) but you can’t fault him for his passion and desire for the whole club and everyone associated with it.

No matter what, before each home game he’d always make me feel proud to be a Town fan when he came running over to SBRL and clap with fierce intent and give us a bit of a gee up, and obviously the same when we were away, wether that be 4,000 of us or 400, I’ll miss that and I’ll miss him.

A shame he didn’t talk about Mick like Skuse did but then that would’ve really got me going

i'll be honest, im surprised both CS and LC went. I saw a scenario where one was to remain to provide a consistent in and around the place, not so much on the pitch but the off field things (taking dinner platers out for example)

of the 2 I sided for LC to stay on and be club captain, with a new team captain.... but as he says, there are no fairy tails.

We’ll be good again... one day

The guy has been brilliant for the club over 9 years, there's nothing wrong with hoping the club went about things in the right way.

I thought LC might stay in some capacity and hoped he would. However, the more I think about it, the more the parting of the ways is the best for the club and him. We are in decline and a reset is needed - and happening. LC is pretty much done as a player and is integral to the immediate awful past we need to move on from. I hope he returns as a coach one day. He does love the club and that to me is important.

When one leaves a workplace there is never an easy way to say goodbye. It is what it is. I hope it was done properly. As for testimonials, they’re a thing of the past for when players were not paid a kings ransom as they are now. However, if they were to do something like that which raised a chunk of money for say EACH, I’d fully support it.
