You thought Cook had plenty to work with when he started, and so did he. He then performed poorly and ever since it’s been 100% the players in your eyes. I’m not saying they’re innocent, but to say Cook has no responsibility for the poor end to the season i think is absurd |
No-one's said he has no responsibility. We've said there are mitigating circumstances. And as makin has pointed out, these players have been failing under several managers for years.

For me, reading the forum, the players seem to be dismissed as lazy, good for nothing mercenaries and Cook is a Latter Day Saint who fought valiantly against what was an impossible job. The situation was anything but and if there was a bit more balance I’d be more accepting of the points being made. Yes, the players definitely have to take some blame but Cook does as well - I don’t think it was a black and white situation and everyone from Evans downwards and a hand in the mess we made of it.
That’s not to say Cook and the squad in place in August don’t deserve all the support we can give them for the new season. In truth all this is in the past now. |  |
