He suggests that they can only score from midfield and defence and that their only hope is that their keeper is superb.
We both agree on one thing that I am not sure has been mentioned much. England's massive strength is that the players on the bench are equally as good as whoever starts the game.

I do think it's true this time that the semi final jinx was such a cross to bear that reaching the final at least gets that off our backs. A loss now would be very disappointing of course but to have lost last night, far far worse. |
I think that's right. Also there was a real expectation to beat Denmark, which adds a huge amount of pressure. I'm not saying a final at Wembley is a 'free hit', but certainly against a team like Italy you would have to say whatever happens we've had a great tournament now. Of course I want us to win it, but there should be a little less pressure on the players now. |  |

Biologically speaking, I'm half Italian. I don't have a soft spot for Italy though (apart from in the rugby, but that's got a lot more to do with them being plucky underdogs than any attachment to my ancestry) and think we'll get the job done against the Azzurri.
I felt Italy started the tournament in exciting fashion, but have gradually got worse (although they are still a very good side). On the other hand, England started in a pretty uninspiring way (in my opinion) and have gradually got better. Should be a great game, hoping to get it done in 90, but would be a beautiful sight to see us win a tournament on penalties. |  |

Italy's winning run has to end at some stage it always does in football, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't happen on Sunday
For me the key is Sterling, his form in the EUROs compared to the 2nd half of the Prem season is amazing. His pace and movement is scaring teams you could see how uncomfortable the Danes were last night when he got the ball. Ok he probably should have scored before the OG but watch his movement to get into that position it was brilliant and ultimately that same positioning resulted in the OG |  | | |

Crazy as it sounds I think Italy may be easier for us as we are now playing continental football. Denmark were very good but played more like an English team

The key part of the game was the 30-40 min mark. Denmark had a great opportunity to make it 2-0 but didn't make the most of a counter. England then created the Sterling chance and a minute later equalised. From that moment Denmark lost their vim and never got it back. | |

I really rate Italy. Coming into the tournament they were in good form, but I felt like they wouldn't have quite enough to overcome a France or Belgium, but they've proven themselves against top opposition. They're classically Italian, well organised, defensive warriors, hard to break down, quality in the middle and have the pace and flair in attacking areas too. Not dissimilar to this England team to be honest. As well as Rice and Phillips have played, my only fear is that Jorginho, Verratti, Barella is a step up in quality in the midfield.
We'll see more of the ball than we would have vs. Spain, question is can we do anything with it. I think it could go all the way to pens. |
