I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend 07:30 - Jul 8 with 2539 views | Lord_Lucan | last night he thinks we may be too strong for them. He suggests that they can only score from midfield and defence and that their only hope is that their keeper is superb. We both agree on one thing that I am not sure has been mentioned much. England's massive strength is that the players on the bench are equally as good as whoever starts the game. Arise Sir Gareth.

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 10:25 - Jul 8 by Ftnfwest | I do think it's true this time that the semi final jinx was such a cross to bear that reaching the final at least gets that off our backs. A loss now would be very disappointing of course but to have lost last night, far far worse. |
I think that's right. Also there was a real expectation to beat Denmark, which adds a huge amount of pressure. I'm not saying a final at Wembley is a 'free hit', but certainly against a team like Italy you would have to say whatever happens we've had a great tournament now. Of course I want us to win it, but there should be a little less pressure on the players now.

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 11:19 - Jul 8 with 318 views | MerseyBlue | Biologically speaking, I'm half Italian. I don't have a soft spot for Italy though (apart from in the rugby, but that's got a lot more to do with them being plucky underdogs than any attachment to my ancestry) and think we'll get the job done against the Azzurri. I felt Italy started the tournament in exciting fashion, but have gradually got worse (although they are still a very good side). On the other hand, England started in a pretty uninspiring way (in my opinion) and have gradually got better. Should be a great game, hoping to get it done in 90, but would be a beautiful sight to see us win a tournament on penalties.

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 11:22 - Jul 8 with 314 views | BlueBlueBluex2 | Denmark are a much stronger team that Italy, the worst is over. Sunday will be a much easier game, it really is coming home. As has already been alluded to, the bench is ridiculously strong.
I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 11:29 - Jul 8 with 306 views | BloomBlue | Italy's winning run has to end at some stage it always does in football, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't happen on Sunday For me the key is Sterling, his form in the EUROs compared to the 2nd half of the Prem season is amazing. His pace and movement is scaring teams you could see how uncomfortable the Danes were last night when he got the ball. Ok he probably should have scored before the OG but watch his movement to get into that position it was brilliant and ultimately that same positioning resulted in the OG

Crazy as it sounds I think Italy may be easier for us as we are now playing continental football. Denmark were very good but played more like an English team Madness!

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 09:45 - Jul 8 by hoppy | That long run from Sterling towards the end in extra time, still at the same high tempo pace as if it had been in the first 10 minutes would worry Italy |
I think that they'll target Sterling and take a big bite out him early on.

Maybe, but we have so many players who are a big danger. It's not like of old when we had to play through Gazza or Gerrard

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 09:27 - Jul 8 by wkj | I tell you what, the first half-hour or so felt anything but relaxed. The second half was a pure party though. |
The key part of the game was the 30-40 min mark. Denmark had a great opportunity to make it 2-0 but didn't make the most of a counter. England then created the Sterling chance and a minute later equalised. From that moment Denmark lost their vim and never got it back.

Don't be ridiculous. Denmark are a decent side but no more. Italy are 32 games unbeaten for a reason.

I don't know much about the Italian team but speaking with my Italian friend on 10:32 - Jul 8 by clive_baker | I really rate Italy. Coming into the tournament they were in good form, but I felt like they wouldn't have quite enough to overcome a France or Belgium, but they've proven themselves against top opposition. They're classically Italian, well organised, defensive warriors, hard to break down, quality in the middle and have the pace and flair in attacking areas too. Not dissimilar to this England team to be honest. As well as Rice and Phillips have played, my only fear is that Jorginho, Verratti, Barella is a step up in quality in the midfield. We'll see more of the ball than we would have vs. Spain, question is can we do anything with it. I think it could go all the way to pens. |
The most sensible post on this today. Pens is a highly likely outcome.
