So, this fan stream thing. 22:10 - Jul 29 with 3029 viewsBlueBadger

I've been working all day and am just catching up.

Is it fair to say that they Just Get It then?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

After Evans, I think pretty much anyone could've rocked up and created good vibes just by being someone else.

Whilst true, I think it's fair to appreciate how they've gone about things for the most part.

There's still bits i'm not happy with; the lack of Category 1 academy interest and the way we let Gibbs leave, but no-one is going to get everything right.

I'm cautious but optimistic. I'm not going to join in with the "they just get it" stuff because that was credited to Lambert for his entire first season as we got relegated.

I think they'll count for very very little if we aren't successful on the pitch. The old regime used to periodically do fairly similar "re-engaging with the fans" PR offensives. They come relatively cheap and are easy to do when you're in a honeymoon period. But no-one is interested in how recently you've re-painted the turnstiles if you're losing and fan forums are much less appetising when fans have got things to complain about.

Of course if we are getting battered week in week out it won’t mean much to us, but it still doesn’t mean they aren’t justified in making those decisions, especially if they are ones for the long term such as training ground improvements etc. Did the playoff year justify Evans not putting any infrastructure in place because we were winning games?

Watched it live, and taking into account all the interviews done with the Gamechanger guys by various podcasts - we've landed on our feet in spectacular fashion haven't we?

I keep expecting someone to wake me up and tell me it's all a dream.

When I look around at the carnage at other clubs, and hear our new leadership talk. it's like night and day.

Yes, we will have to see if Cook can get it right on the pitch but so far it's very clear the owners intend to deliver what's promised — and that Ashton is a force of nature putting it into place. Early days but we do seem to have got very lucky indeed here.

Think it may all take the fanbase a little time to adjust to — so used to not trusting leaders at ITFC and there will undoubtedly come a time when the new guys do something people don't agree with, or something doesn't go quite right, so supporters will need to hold their nerve on occasion. There's also a bit of natural Suffolk reservedness sometimes I think. But the clear aim is to get the club & fans looking forwards with real pride and optimism, chests puffed out a bit, and hopefully that catches on.

Yes, a bit of self belief is long overdue and I know something you've mentioned on here before. Ashton said last night that all three of them have been involved in big clubs 'but this is a bigger club'. Fans ought to remember we have a heritage and plenty more to be proud of. Let's not undersell what we can achieve here.
