so.... 09:00 - Sep 29 with 3611 views | blueysbackside | I am interested to know if anyone who wanted Cook out three games ago is prepared to accept that that it's possible - just possible - that the tide is turning. Anyone changed their mind on him?
so.... on 14:05 - Sep 29 with 404 views | chrismakin | Bolton game made me think i was wrong about him all along, it just looked awful 3 games and some severe training sessions it seems and it's almost a different side to the one that lost to Bolton, the shape, organisation etc is vastly improved, So im glad my original thoughts on PC may 'may' be correct. But it's 3 games.

so.... on 14:10 - Sep 29 with 384 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I decided after Bolton was time for him to go because I couldn't see any progress and couldn't see us turning the form around quickly enough. I actually stated that he had 5 games for me to get at least 2 wins and at least 2 clean sheets but that I didn't see it happening. He has now achieved that and with 1 game to spare. I am pleased. I also think he now needs to sustain this. I am pleased with the signs of progress over the last 3 matches. My requirements for the next block of 5 games is a minimum of 10 points. I think we should be achieving that every block of five games from now on. That is how good and consistent we need to be. A result against Accrington will be good but the following 5 are a set of games that we should not fear. It is the 5 after that in November that are likely to be more of a challenge. However, it is about us being good enough in this division regardless of who we are up against. Time to become the best team in the league by playing as the best team in the league.

so.... on 09:51 - Sep 29 by Chrisd | Saturday's game will be really interesting for me, Accrington away we generally struggle with whether that is due to their style of play, the smaller ground and facilities, the crowd so tight to the pitch, conditions etc.. but we invariably come unstuck against them at their place. There's no doubt they will make it uncomfortable and they won't allow us to play, but if we can get a result there I think then we can say that we have turned the corner. There has been signs in recent games, but I'm hoping last night's result will give the players confidence and belief in going forwards. |
They've just been spanked 5-1 by Oxford too, so they are going to be either on a downer or going back to basics and making it very difficult for us to break down. An early goal for us could see us rack up a big score again. And on the OP, I was getting frustrated with Cook and while the last three games have been better, we need to see that repeated through October to really see us as turning a corner. Christmas is still a judgement point for me. Mid-table and double digits away from playoffs I think he'll go.

The Bolton game was a complete mess defensively and even I was questioning his defensive coaching acumen. But the way the Edmundson interview makes it clear that the nervousness of fans also got to them, and how Cook had given him direct coaching including video play backs on errors and issues and that had helped. Well it restores some faith that the training ground can improve us…. Gelling, drilling over and over again, building team spirit and building confidence - surely they were the issues?? And it needed time. Cool hadn’t somehow become a poor manager. But people have no patience. Fail to get 3 or 4 wins out of October and I’m sure the doubts will return. League table does seem a lot tighter this morning! Have you watch Les Cooks post match interview? Well worth it. Will hopefully further cement your renewed confidence in him!

You say people lack patience but he's been here for 6 months, not 6 games. Concerns about his performance here were (and are) justified. We all want him to do well but up until last night the reasons for optimism have primarily been based on work he's done outside ITFC.
