The trailer for it is just sensationalised nonsense, it'll go down brilliantly in the areas it's supposed to.

The US is heading for full-scale internal conflict if this utter drivel is allowed to continue.

Sadly you are right, it could get very ugly. My biggest fear is that this country tends to follow, if not quite as extreme in action but in philosophy.

...well it does take a politically broken country like the UK to recognise just how f'cked up the US is.

I sometimes wonder if these Fox hosts believe the drivel that they spout, or is it merely a position that argue....much like a Barrister can argue the case for either side in a Courtroom

I think I would be more terrified if they actually were Believers, and more disgusted if they were merely role playing

Wouldn't OFCOM intervene if this was broadcast on a similar UK topic? Even with Dacre in charge....

And it's what GB News was set up to do, it just (luckily) doesn't have the budget to have the same impact.

The new Fox channel launching next year will do though and you know this Government will be all over it like a rash.

Internal trouble, maybe. Even Oklahoma-style outrages. But I still think a full-blown civil war unlikely. That would require whole states attempting to secede, plus a split in the armed forces. If the latter stay loyal to Washington, any insurrection is doomed to failure.

The right-wing militias lack the numbers, heavy weapons and airpower to mount a sustained rebellion against the state. They only got away with Malheur because the authorities treated the situation with kid gloves, not wanting another Waco.

I don't mean a civil war, more large and organised internal conflict with many thousands of armed right-wing fanatics getting into a shooting battle with police/army.

I think that is within the realms of feasibility.

Clearly there isn't going to be a 1800's style civil war.

Watched this on the BBC the other day. The level of denial among Trump's people who were there and saw it with their own eyes is terrifying.

I don't think the militias have the level of organisation - certainly at a national, umbrella level - to do that. At most they can mobilise a couple of hundred at any time. The group which occupied Malheur numbered fewer than 50, not all of whom were potential combatants.

There may be shoot-outs, but that will also lead to a strong reaction in US public opinion.

The denial is linked to their allegiance to Trump and that one word from him, probably deselects them from any future involvement in politics.

It's as close to a cult as you will find.

The fact there is evidence linking Trump's Chief of Staff and over a dozen members of congress to the planning of January 6th is almost being ignored or dressed up as a witch-hunt.

Hopefully you are right, although things like Trump's new "Truth" platform are only going to make it easier to get organised.

Either way, the divide in the US is becoming too engrained to see a way to reconcile at the moment.

I reckon Trump's social media thing will be a damp squib (much like a lot of his other initiatives). All those people use platforms like Telegram, anyway.

Fast forward 20 years to a world where China has demonstrably superseded the US on more measures and it could get very messy. Rats in a barrel.

The Truth (ha ha) platform will be a money laundering scheme posing as a 'voice' for Trump's disciples.

Wow! Didn't want to watch the trailer so Googled (which gave highest hits to sites named "weloveTrump" and similar. Found Snopes which analysed it like this: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tucker-carlson-capitol-attack/

How can people continue to take no responsibility for their actions on this scale and even try to turn it to their own advantage? Hopefully the last throes of a desperate group fooling only the few most ensconced in the cult. It would be very interesting (but probably also alarming) to know what level of support this sort of rubbish and Trump in general still have.

You would hope so. I’m old enough to remember when Fox in prime time at least pretended to be impartial and had democrat Alan Colmes alongside Hannity to provide something of a counter point.

There’s less than zero chance they would do something similar now.

i know there is utter crap on facebook and twitter and people rightly get offended by it , and try to take it down. but major media networks are in my mind even worse.

Agree. They amplify the social media nonsense and legitimise it.

"I heard it on the news" is basically the defence of the Trumpists as they feel it gives it legitimacy.
