I saw Meat Loaf at Wembley in April 1982. I thought it was lousy. It's not my favourite venue, with poor acoustics, but he couldn't really sing. Apparently he'd lost his voice in 1979 after a few years of touring, drugs & exhaustion & IMO he hadn't got it back. A mate of mine saw him several years later (against my advice) & was similarly disappointed.

Steve Steinman does Meatloaf better than Meatloaf...
Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

Never realised it until now, but meatloaf kind of looks like Ann Widdicome
Prior to the success of bat out of hell Meatloaf was always short of a few quid. He used to take on a lot of part time jobs, including being Anne Widdicome at evenings and weekends. He took the role very seriously and will be missed by all who worked with him (Wikipedia 2021)

I was listening to writer Jim Steinman's solo album 'Bad for Good' the other day. Supposed to have been BooH2, but Meatloaf wasn't around to do the vocals. It is fabulous, if you're into that kind of 6th-form-heavy-metal-with-a-twist-of-Spinal-Tap. I am.

He was on the bill at my first ever festival - Donington Monsters of Rock in 1983.
My God he was awful - totally out of keeping with the other bands, but incessantly trying to make up for it by needlessly screaming ‘MotherF*****s’ and the like throughout his set.
He didn’t sing, he just pranced around the stage shouting.
As a fresh faced 16 yr old, little did I know that I had just witnessed my benchmark to measure all future disappointing gigs against.
I am partial to a slice of Haslet from time to time though.

Have you heard his album he done under the name Pandora’s Box? It’s some of the tracks on Bad for good, and Bat 2 but with female singers one of which Ellen Folly was on the bat out of hell album :o)
