Cook is getting it right - we will be fine! 10:28 - Oct 31 with 2819 viewsjasondozzell

Went yesterday. Obviously very frustrating but I think on reflection we are still moving in the right direction. I think we will make the play offs.

We are a good side. We create good chances and if we'd taken those in the second half yesterday we could quite easily have taken a point or more home. That's not anyone's fault really. Just a matter of Bonne's boot meeting the ball a little earlier or later or Edwards finish being a metre sharper. Score and 2-2 would have sent everyone home saying we are resilient and run continues and strong point etc. Fine margins. It would be more concerning if we hadn't created those chances.

There was a moment in the second half when Edwards was dribbling on the right hand side when I suddenly thought to myself that we are exciting to watch , especially second half when we start to tire teams out moving the ball from flank to flank, and have been all season. It's easy to forget that we have had absolutely no threat for seasons before this, reliant on a bit of Bishop brilliance or Edwards having one of his good days for a goal or chance.

It is frustrating that we seem to lose concentration and give goals away at crucial moments. But on reflection that was not a bad effort away at league leaders with illness and players in unfamiliar positions.

Maybe the truth is that it was unrealistic to expect a completely new squad to fire immediately and to storm the league? I think we will finish in the play offs and that will be about right.

I agree, and I hate to make excuses, but losing those three 48 hours prior was really bad timing, like REALLY bad timing.

Poll: How are we going to try and undermine the manager today?

I don't think enough has been accepted of this

It's bad enough playing top of the league. But having your plans ripped up so close to kickoff. This isn't just pick a team and send them out. It's all sorts of plans. Man marking etc.

Having that said tho. PC still did things wrong which were in his control.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

a 'defensive' midfielder with fresh legs who is much more attacking than the player he replaced and the only other attacking option was Jackson...I think he made the right call, especially as Harper could/should have scored...

Yes, Harper was pushing well forward, I didn't agree with Joe Pigott being out wide right when he came on, he needed to be in the middle and as has been said, changes were made far too late to make a real difference.

Wigan brought in seventeen players and let eighteen go. They currently sit second after ten wins in 15. Wycombe signed and sold 13 players and sit third. Albeit they lost 5-1 yesterday but Sunderland are still 5th after bringing in 17 players and letting 22 go. The ‘needing time to gel’ reason doesn’t really hold up under scrutiny.

It wasn't just players here though, was it. Evans had let this place rot, the culture was to cut corners, do things on the cheap and mend it if you could.

We've had 19 new players and a complete and utter change of the whole club's ethos and culture.
I've done the same numerous times in my career and it doesn't happen in 6 months, 2-3 years is much more accurate.

Thats not to say Cook is blameless, I'm seriously worried about how one dimensional he is, 4-2-3-1 or be damned but there are much wider issues at play than the players brought in, there are big areas of this club that still feels like this is a club treading water and that, by osmosis, affects performance. O'Leary and co will need more time to address this before we get into any sort of stride.

It is situations like we faced yesterday that a manager earns his keep. Cooks solution wasn’t what most would have expected and yet again he was late in making changes. He is costing us points.

100% agree, should have started Celina won't waver from his favoured formation though he has the personal to do it, my biggest gripe, he's tactically inept in a game like Lambert no plan B

There was nothing wrong with not starting Celina. He’s not been great for our overall play.

But he was great when he came on – and much more effective than he’s been so far – so he’s probably played his way into the starting XI on Tuesday.

Pronouns: He/Him

Who gives a sh*t? It’s where they finish in May that counts, not the end of October. This forum has gone to a new level of ridiculous in the last 24-hours. Some citing Cook has four games or needs to go!

Can’t wait for 10pm Tuesday night.
