A stunning mix of arrogance and ignorance. What a despicable human being he really is.

Properly his closest rival as worst PM.
Must be something in the water at Eton, as Cameron would be third on the list and Douglas Home was, at best, a bit useless.

Douglas-Home was, for about three weeks, Prime Minister whilst a member of neither of the Houses of Parliament: he'd disclaimed his various peerages, and hadn't yet won the by-election that got him back into the Commons.

Although Eden has the excuse for Suez of being in serious pain from botched surgery and out of his brain on sedatives.

Very interesting, many thanks Methuselah!

This is also a good opportunity to plug the fantastic Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany once again. A basic but revealing look at the abuse of amphetamines at the height of Hitler's reign.

The allies also used drugs to improve morale and performance.

In earlier wars alcohol was the drug: in WW1 Tommies went over the top basically three sheets to the wind. That's why they happily walked through hailstorms of machine gun fire. The other effect was to reduce the effects of getting wounded: the drunk don't bleed as profusely and also the 'rag doll' effect of collapsing when they fall minimises other injuries.

Although when artillery is the main killer, no amount of drugs will help you.

Perhaps tw25 could tell us what it is about the incompetent, corrupt and openly racist Boris Johnson it is that appeals to him.

Who knows? He’s definitely put weight on. I reckon Cummings’ Twitter may be very interesting soon.

Boris is on his final lap (politically wise) sleaze will ensure he doesn’t cross the finish line, it may not be the change in government we may wish to see but someone slightly less incompetent may be the best we can hope for until it’s time to vote again.

We are seeing the slow death of this government. It won’t happen overnight because they have the numbers to see it out fir a full term. But they are finished. A change of leader won’t make any difference. They are finished.

The voting public hasn’t decided what they want in its place. Hence Labour not making any inroads on the opinion polls. But there won’t be a Tory government in 2025.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Does Long Covid make you exempt? You mean he is struggling to breathe? He seems able to complete his daily routine and orate speeches fine. I do not think those I know with long Covid would be able to. They are off work.

Not sure about exemptions, but long covid hits in many different ways that don't necessarily totally incapacitate someone. I'm only getting back to normal 11 months after having the virus.

In BJ's case, I suspect the weight gain is down to a toxic combination of getting older, not doing much exercise, living on hospitality and being a bit of a serious drinker.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
