We're still not very keen on winning football matches are we? 07:24 - Nov 10 with 2012 viewsSteve_M

Last night is a crap competition that doesn't mean much either way, although a penalty shoot out win is worth noting at least (is that only four - Luton, Shrewsbury & Peterborough?).

Seven wins in 21 games this season remains disappointing though, add that to four in 16 last year and 11 wins from 37 is, well, meh.

The league is the important thing this season, and our recent form has been better, but this has been a pretty disappointing follow up to Wycombe last week. Three big league matches coming up now, we need to show a bit more consistency or this season will be another one that never reaches its potential.

It's not really that on these matches for me, it's just frustrating that we haven't built on an excellent result last Tuesday.

You're comparing apples with oranges. We aren't really motivated for these cup games, that's the main difference between them and say Wycombe the other night.

The crowds for them compared to the league games tells you the supporters aren't motivated for them either. I forgot we were even playing last night. So it's going to be very hard for the players to get themselves up and firing in games where even the supporters are nonplussed.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I can't keep up.
Are we Cook out again?

Personally, I'm 'Cook, maybe'. Which is a shift from 'I'm not actively calling for him to go, but I can't say as I'd be bothered if he did'.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Anyone who watched Webber's interview last week wouldn't have expected Farke to get the tick-tack 5 days later though!

I'm certain Cook will be here for the season, barring an unlikely catastrophe, but I am continually surprised by how much stock a lot on here put into soundbites from the senior management and owners.

Funny how games like last night now matter?! I thought the general consensus was the games against Oldham and Colchester weren’t a top priority? However, because we didn’t win them outright suddenly all the negativity quickly comes flooding back. Has PC done what most of us wanted in those games regarding team selection? Full strength against Oldham and a complete change for last night’s game, yes and probably more than we expected. Let’s also not forget, that we didn’t lose either of those games, we’re still in both those cup competitions. I do understand what you are saying, but if we win on Saturday and then again against Sunderland (I noticed they lost on penalties last night does that game count for them?!) in the league, then this concern of these two cup ties will be quickly forgotten. On another positive, we aren’t losing that often either, 2 defeats in the last 13 games in all competitions - if these games matter of course.

Thats the problem bit too much Negativity , games not top priority , its the league that counts and all that crap . I would have loved to see these squad ? players busting a gut to win a first team shirt .

Maybe but I just don't see it at all. Numerous times it was referenced we will be supporting Paul in January etc and he feels very much part of that long term 'management team' as they kept referring to it. I know it's rare in modern football but I do genuinely believe these guys believe in what they say in terms of building, no rash decisions etc.

Ashton arguably stuck with Johnson for far too long at Bristol City as well, he hasn't got form for firing managers.

The thing that really surprises me is how so many people here take it as an absolute given that loads of players will leave if we fail to make it up this year.

A ‘maybe’? Does that mean you’re still not sure if the performances and the match experience are better or not?
