We're under 2 points per game in the current form table, with 11 points from our last 6 games. We're also 5th in said table, so it's really play off form rather than promotion form. We're not really gaining on the likes of Plymouth, Rotherham and Wigan as they've tended to be consistently above us in the form table as well as in the league. Hopefully they'll have a dip and we won't. We could also do with a really outstanding run where we're averaging over 2 points per game over 5 or 6 games so that we can afford a brief dip ourselves at some point. It's progress from our start of course, and that's good, but we're not the finished article.

21 points from the last 11, not too shabby.

Not the finished article but clearly on the right track.

Well we're 5th in the current form table and that's generally where we've been hovering lately, 4th or 5th. That's not promotion form though when the sides above us in the form table are also above us in the league. We have to overhaul those sides to go up. We're doing okay, big improvement from the opening 6 games. Let's see how things look after the Sunderland and Rotherham games.

We have to overhaul them if we want to go up AUTOMATICALLY. The current form will easily have us in the playoffs and you can't play for a draw there.

First 9 games, 10 points. Next 8 games, 14 points. Ok, not a massive difference in points, but I’d argue the opposition has been marginally stronger since the start of October. I know I’m searching for crumbs a bit and we need a Burley-style run of wins, but I think we are going the right way.

Not too shabby but won't get us automatic promotion either. That kind of form sees us pick up around 55 points from our remaining 29 games, which would see us finishing on 79 points and somewhere around 5th most likely. In with a sniff through the play offs but I don't know that many of us, including the manager and players, would have taken 5th place and 79 points if offered it at the start of the season.

Well automatic promotion was meant to be the aim this season but I agree it's looking unlikely at this point.

The problem is it’s no good going the right way when the race is over. We have to close ground and the people acting on faith alone are not just irritating, but hypocritical in most cases.

Mid table in the championship, goalless draws etc were the devils work apparently. Now we are here, seems there’s no consistency.

Today is another bump in the road, but hopefully we finish the year closing the gap not just maintaining it.

It's not another bump in the road. it's 1 point gained to those around us and we stopped someone higher getting more points than us

We're going to lose games. I'd rather it be someone below than someone above us and if you don't win them, draw them.

Not a bad result, but we should be looking to win any home match.

Draw not the end of the world, but 3 home draws featuring one Town goal is not how I expected to follow the Wycombe victory.

Agree, in isolation an okay point at home. But failure to win any of the three home games in the past week is a concern.

The race isn’t even half over. If I say that we are ‘going the right way’ at Easter and we are mid table, that will be nonsense and irritating to me as well as you.

Last season and the season before that, we couldn’t compete with the better teams. The relegation season before that, we didn’t compete with anyone. Games at home last season Nov - Feb where the result was a forgone conclusion. That’s behind us and I don’t think there is any comparison between the club or the team now and then.

This view is not excusing Cook. If we don’t make top 6, then with the resources we have, a decision on him will have to be made.

We also didn't sign 19 players, many of whom on Champ money and completely gut the squad.

Whichever way you cut it, we keep getting told this is great and "we will lose games" but also overtake teams above us who have games in hand etc. It's almost like it's at best hope, mixed in with denial.

For me, not going up is an indisputable failure, the degrees of that failure can be measured later. But pretending we should just be happy participating in a league we were never in danger of exiting for so many years is rich, coming from many of its loudest proponents in the fanbase.

Cook needs to start pulling wins out of these games doesn't he? We can be glad when rivals drop points, but that's not the same as winning and being up there is it?
