Cook has recruited well, we have some excellent players but in most games they are under-performing. Moan all you want about Oxford’s time-wasting but what we saw today was a well-organised team, working as a unit and executing their game strategy very well. In contrast we had 11 players with far more talent and technical ability than their opponents but lacking a clear plan.
The current management team won’t get us up this season. We may make the play offs but over 2 games we’ll come up short. There’s no way I could see us beating that Oxford team we saw today over two games. We’d end up feeling we were the better team but bemoaning poor decisions, their time-wasting and general sh*thousery but ultimately we’ll end up losers.
Yes PC has a great track record of promotion out of this league but not with the group of coaches and staff he has assembled. We’re not terrible but nor should we be with the players we have. At the same time though we’re nowhere near as good as we should be. The owners who have invested so much money and us supporters who have invested so much time and endured so much disappointment season after season deserve better than we’re getting.
Cook and his sidekicks aren’t good enough. They are squandering the best (and maybe last) opportunity to turn our club around. |  |

As I posted below...oddly the time wasting and sh*thousery is a compliment. They struggled to contain us second half.
And as good as the football was from Oxford in that opening 20 mins...we hit the post twice and looked the more likely to score. |

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of the (mis)use of the word "agenda". Autos were the aim as you yourself acknowledge. All the talk from new signings coming in, from Cook, from everyone was about the aim this year being promotion. I don't even know what you mean by promotion or bust. I don't expect the club to fold if we don't go up, it will simply be a failure and one for which Cook is likely to lose his job if there aren't mitigating factors in my opinion. |
Vic has it totally right, the new owners aim is to gain promotion as quickly as possible upon which they also said it might not happen this year with the knowledge of just how much change was going to be undertaken by the club at the start of the season, only a fool would fully expect dead cert promotion given such a dynamic and massive change, what we all have now after our recent run of results is hope we genuinely can achieve it somehow this year, our players and PC and everyone who runs the club have given us after a torrid start renewed belief that even after a full squad rebuild that we have an opportunity to pull it off and I like many other Town fans are going to be supporting Towns run up the league with every breath I have!!

After witnessing Karl Robinson's less that sporting pathetic tactics today my estimation of him has gone down a lot, I wouldn't want anyone who imposed those kind of tactics managing Town and he was in my top 3 before we appointed PC. |

I've always had time for Karl Robinson sides. He gets his teams playing very attractive football. However, not for the first time his teams have blatantly time wasted, cheated and seen a game out at any cost. Now I fully understand game management and seeing a game out, but it's not for me.
Paul Cook is turning the playing personnel and playing style around in a fashion not seen before here. We all wanted and knew everything about the footballing side of the club (indeed every side aspect of the club), and Cookie is doing just that. He inherited an overrated, inbalanced squad where senior players had too much influence and power. Just like with Paul Hirst , they rebelled against him. This time however, we have owners who back the manager and not the players. Status quo has returned. I for one enjoy and look forward to Saturdays again for first time in many seasons, whereas before I went out of some sort of duty. Paul Cook has assembled an excellent squad, which I believe is probably more suited for the Championship than League One. I have no doubt we will be back in the Championship and competing in it very very soon.
Back the manager, back the players and back the club. I've said before that the biggest threat to this all being a success is us.

By coincidence I happened to be in Oxford yesterday so listened in to BBC Oxford commentary. Their guys we’re commenting on how Paul Cook’s tactics were spot on, negating much of Oxford’s more creative players and thought Oxford were holding on for a point! They thought we looked one of the stronger teams they’d faced them this term!

Finding it a bit bizarre reading some of the negativity this morning. Yesterday was two decent, well coached sides going toe to toe. First half I'd call 50/50, they looked better in possession but we hit the post twice. By the second half, we'd got on top of them and they resorted to making it a scrappy game where we couldn't get any momentum in the last 20 mins. | | | |
