We need to steam roll Barrow tomorrow night. 13:15 - Dec 14 with 3433 viewsOriginalMarkyP

Put down a marker on national TV that this team has some fight in them.

Forget tippy-tappy smash them with Bonne and Norwood from the start.

Put the tackles in. Remind them they're in a proper game.

We need controlled agression from all our big players and to wipe them off the map.

It needs to be the kind of game that if it were a boxing match, the ref would tell Barrow to stay in their corner for the second half.

Far too much weakness this season. It's time to show our teeth.

oh yes, "we need to steamroller them". Fine , true even. But it is unlikely to happen is it . This after all is Ipswich Town FC, we don't do what's expected , ever !

I know.

But isn't it time we did?

Isn't it time we started believing that we could?

Also. All my OP is saying, is that (i believe) we really need to beat Barrow and not get embarrassed on National TV. Again.

I'm sick and tired of my football club sleep walking into mediocrity.

There is so little sense of urgency it's bizarre.

We have a game on Wednesday. On National TV. Against easily beatable opposition. That gets us further in the world's greatest cup competition than we've been in ages. It's a chance for a team that has clearly suffered a loss of form and confidence to put down a marker and say that this season isn't over yet. There is more to come from this team. My team. Your team. Everyone on this board's effing team. So let's try and win it with players equipped to win it.

Or no, you know what? We could just send up the stiffs, lose by the odd goal, crawl into a corner and wait until August for the whole tedious pantomine to start again.

In reality all your plan will result in is a knackered team getting battered by Sunderland on Saturday.

Do we really care about a performance on TV that nobody will bother watching?

It's about priorities and I simply don't agree with yours. Your acting like it's FM and their fitness values will be back up to 99% after one day.

They have 2.5 days to recover before Sunderland.

And in front of 28k fans, Portman Rd buzzing...I believe they should be up for it.

99% fitness??? Is that something to do with computer games??? I wouldn't know, I don't play them. Why would anyone shape their opinion based on a computer game??

I would suggest that go to Barrow and lose in the cup and that 28k will be a little flat. Get into the third round for the first time in ages after comprehensively defeating a team we should beat and just perhaps you might engender an atmosphere that lifts the team and inspires them to greater things.

Maybe you can model that scenario on you computer game and see how it plays out?

They won't get back until about 5am on Thursday morning, possibly unrested and knackered. It's also a 7 hour drive there on Wednesday.

Much better to spend that time on the training pitch I think that some "feel good" factor you are expecting to get from betting a team near the bottom of League Two.

Anyway, we aren't going to agree so I'll leave it there.

Send the kids and a few fringe players.

The first team should be focussed on Sunderland and Sunderland alone.

Barrow could beat Barnsley on their day so hopefully they will get to round 4 and get a big draw.

Truly impaired.

ITV4 is hardly national tv, though we do have a good record on it recently good draw against Liverpool and a win against Birmingham City so good omens 😉

I don’t want us to go there lose and go meh it’s only a cup game. Winning is a good habit to get into we as a club tend to be soft and always think next game is more important than the one coming up.

Why would you be annoyed?

It's absolutely the correct thing to do. It's a massive journey up there, not sure that getting back at 5am on Thursday morning isn't ideal preparation for the weekends match, especially given the first team could do with a bit more time on the training field before then.

Just a meagre 2.5 days of rest.

How will the little loves cope?!

Usually takes us about 5 and a half hours to Ipswich… with a stop or two. Having said that I spoke to the driver of one of the col u supporters coaches (or the coach) after the barrow v col match a few months back and he said it was an 8 hour trip. He also scowled at me when I told him I was a town fan lol

Post I wrote for work about the match. Hopefully you don't mind me sharing it on here. Please let me know if I've made any glaring errors.

Thursday 5am to 3pm Saturday = 2.5 days.

Plus the coaches are so comfortable these days, it'll be like being in bed for them anyway.

I don't buy the "tiredness" card, they probably relax more on the coach than they would if they were at home!

You'd be one of the first to complain if they put in a substandard performance Saturday because they are knackered.

Honestly, I can't believe how many seem to care about a second round replay away to Barrow with a chance to play Barnsley afterwards when we really need to win some league matches.

Not really.

I've been consistently right this season and will express my opinion whenever I like, I'm also more than happy to admit when I'm wrong. SB seems to have decided that I need to be put in my place, which is pretty hilarious from a person who I assume is an adult on a messageboard but might well have their own particular set of problems that makes them behave a certain way.

I don't get why we think it's so implausible that we beat Barrow with the reserves. We could put out a whole team of players who have no chance of starting against Sunderland, who nevertheless would walk into Barrow's first team.

We're so used to looking less than the sum of our parts that we just expect it!

The idea of playing a second string is laughable. Town are sitting 12th in the table - what exactly are we trying to protect? The play-offs are a pipe dream at present. This is a winnable cup tie with another winnable tie awaiting in the next round.

A decent cup run would surely bring some feel good factor with it? It’s been a long time since Town last threatened the latter stages in a cup?
