Not sure Aluko belongs in that system. I like him but I didn't think he offered much playing centrally.

I think the constant change of formation didn't help Tues. He looked lost and it definitely effected him

Think we will see a much improved individual performance from him today

Sorry. wednesday

It’s asking a lot of him but might work. Evans and Morsy could free him up

Probably best technical and quick thinking player we have. Best bit of recruitment during the summer.

Big opportunity for Woolfenden today. Hope he takes it.

Looking forward to Norwood and Boone as well.

You'd think Fraser or Chaplin would be better suited to that role - it's more of a 5-2-1-2 than a 3-5-2/5-3-2.

i'd call it as a 1-2-2-2-1-2!

I think Aluko is definitely worth a try in the role behind the strikers. He’s excellent at retaining the ball and always looks to be positive. No one else has really made that position their own.

Most important thing here for me is that it looks like we're going with our three most comfortable on the ball centre backs, and as such we are going to be able to retain possession higher up the pitch, without retreating back to our 18 yard box under any form of press.

Assuming it's broadly a 5-2-1-2, we just need to make sure that Sunderland don't exploit the gaps between the wingbacks and defensive 2 midfielders.

Yes, think both Fraser and Chaplin would be a more natural fit for that role. Given how easily we're overrun in midfield I wouldn't be averse to Carroll, Harper or El Miz being in there either to make it a genuine three.

Yes, but not the Carroll or El Mizouni that turned out on Wednesday!
