Meh, I guess.
A player that cost a few quid and came with great promise, but ultimately delivered very little indeed for us.
Ineffective is probably the word I'd used to describe his performances for us, when he was fit enough to play. |  |

Goes without saying I feel most sorry for us, and Nolan undoubtedly got a decent contract, but Hurst really did stop a lot of player’s careers in their tracks. He put the whole squad into a tailspin they never really recovered from – as a group but also as individuals.
Younger talents like Dozzell and Downes could be given a free pass and another chance somewhere else. But among the senior players Donacien is probably the exception and testament to him putting up with even worse and coming out the other side stronger. |  |

Over the years we've had quite a few players whose control suggested the possibility of a greater influence than the actual performance delivered. Lee Martin, Currie, and further back, Garvan, Brennan. I'm a sucker for such players who initially show that level of control, but who ultimately disappoint - I think Fraser might be just about to be added to my list. |

Jackson might still make it as yet even here as a squad player but he has had a big interruption to his progress for sure. Who else did Hurst sign? It is difficult to recall now but I doubt many are playing above where they were when they joined us aside from Donacien. Did see one of the loanees, Edun, playing in the Championship the other day. | |

Was Roberts a Hurst signing? I thought of him more as just before Hurst. He was a strange one as he played and scored some goals when we were short of players and thought he had done well and then we got rid anyway. I guess where he is now is better than Crawley who he joined from. Spent a lot of his time here out on loan too, didn't he?
