There are problems in police forces nationwide but the Met seems to be unredeemable. It needs to be replaced in the same way that the RUC was, and for the same reason, that it has fundamentally lost the trust of too many of the people it is policing.
It goes far beyond Cressida Dick, as dreadful as she has beem.

Just waiting for the usual apologists for the police to come on and tell us it's just a few bad apples...

One of whom is a Sgt in the Borough of ****************, who due to a homophobic attitude marked down Youngest Offspring's team in a competition because her Sgt is gay.

So what had your youngest done about that?
Cos if the answer is "nothing because...." then I'd suggest she is already a fair way down the road to turning a blind eye to police colleagues likely to be involved in who knows what.
Silence is all that is needed. It has happened for years within the police and if your daughter doesn't speak out now, when will she?
(Not having a dig - just posing the question and highlighting how good people quickly end up saying nothing / colluding with colleagues - for fear of speaking out)

I understand what you are saying / asking and what. I asked the same thing.
This was a Police Cadet event. Kids aged between 12-18 ffs.
First of all there's the burden of proof, whilst they suspected it, they couldn't prove it
Second, their sargeant didn't want to make a scene
So, more rumour than fact, per se, but....
As I have stated before, the sargeants run the stations and those within are moulded in their image. Wet behind the ears grad entry officers are often too weak to deal with it.

Almost worse than the apologists are the heads in the sand majority who think this all mysteriously vanished about 40 years ago because......I have no idea why!!

And I am not saying it's easy.
I worked with a racist colleague in around 2004. I was flabbergasted at what he said. What did I do?
I wrote down his comments and kept a log of his comments. Dates / times and witnesses.
After a few weeks I had what I considered to be strong evidence (Having witnesses helped) and I reported him for racism. Turned out a colleague had done the same (for sexism) and the company investigated.
He got a final written (I'd have fired him) and next time his contract was up it wasn't renewed.
So things can be done. Today I'd probably go in and record him tbh, feed him a line and let him hang himself.
Not saying it's easy - but unless people start to take action nothing happens. A chat with the PSD guys will help here too. They'll be aware of what she can do and advice (Assuming it's ongoing)

Agreed. The Met has been "dirty" since, well, whenever. If anyone remembers the excellent "Our Friends in the North" the stuff about the Vice squad being in cahoots with the villains in Soho was fact, not fiction. It needs disbanding, not re-badging. I'd also suggest disbanding the City of London police and the City of London Corporation who appoint them, but of course given this country's position as the prime money laundering destination in the world, that would never happen.

Caroline Lucas mentioned their misdemeanors in her Q to that pr1ck yesterday.
That pr1ck said they were wonderful.
Found by independent reports to institutionally racist and corrupt and nothing gets done.
It's not that hard to set up an independent whistle-blowers helpline and have a default position that a prosecution for misconduct in public office will follow.
Prison; dismissal; loss of pension above minimal level.

Absolutely inexcusable and I’ve only seen part of it that people have shared on social media. The language within police stations can be a bit industrial given the subject matters that are often dealt with, but the matters raised here have gone so far beyond the line and are completely unacceptable, disgraceful and rightly heads will roll..
From stories I’ve heard from Met officers who have transferred out to other forces i perhaps shouldn’t be surprised. The Met with all its funding is without a shadow of a doubt the most archaic and out of date force within the country.. it’s like a throwback to the 70’s in more ways than one

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

For clarity: 11 investigated. One dismissed, one resigned ahead of disciplinary for gross misconduct, 9 remain as serving officers within the Met.

I would expect that ‘serving officers’ would very likely to be sat in a non public facing role awaiting an outcome of internal investigation from their Professional Standards Department (or whatever the call it in London) I would predict the majority of this will be getting the boot… at some stage.
I think with the publication today even the Met would struggle to not relieve them of their duties.

Because accepting the police have an issue - be that institutional corruption, institutional racism or institutional misogyny is extremely uncomfortable for people to grasp.
Those who defend them usually can't grasp that their rose tinted view of the police is far from the real world. Do you remember Bully adamantly defending this guy? He genuinely argued that it wasn't clear from the video that this guy was an out of control lunatic.

I'll have a wager with you :-)
So far 2 gone (1 sacked/1 resigned). Will wager by the year end that number is still 2...

Odd how you never hear this of the Fire Service, "given the subject matters that are often dealt with".
There is a thought among some that they are untouchable, and you need to be 'one of the lads' to be a copper.
Perhaps it is time we had a predominately female police force.
